Thanks. I had forgotten about the extended ASCII character set. I used to use ALT+255 to generate a space in some interesting places.

Unfortunately, I am another that knew this, and have used it in the olden days of technology. Heck, I also remember having to use the ascii set to change the default screen colors, when wallpaper used to be non existant. You can also use the Character Map under accessories>system tools, or simply store the symbol in one of those Copy/Paste programs that I am sure all of you currently use. BTW, Cliptrak or Clipmate are both very nice for this.

Then just paste it in like so °, but personally the * is just a heck of alot easier and most people get the point.

It's Hold-Alt, press 1-6-7 on your keypad. Won't work with the normal numbers.

I don't have those on my laptop.

You should, hit your Fn key and find the num lock key, it'll replace your regular keypad. I bloody hate the thing on my laptop.

Folks,

It was an "FYI"....jeez. You don't have to use the information. You don't have to remember anything. If you like the asterisk better, please, keep using it....

Excuse me for living.....

This website gives you the Alt key combos for a lot of the symbols that are available in Windows. Google is your friend....

That's O.K., we understand. I have also recently heard that the $2 bill, which many were unaware ever existed is getting a big push to come back by the Strip clubs wanting to double their tips. It was worth a shot

edit 1 - interesting story I heard a while back. A friend went into a McDonalds and gave a $2 bill, the kid went to his manager insisting the guy was trying to use conterfiet bills as he had never seen a $2 bill. The manager asked why would anyone take the time to create conterfiet $2 bills. May be urban legend, but was funny none the less.

This is for real....When the new 10.00 bill came out a few years ago..
I went back too my hometown and at the motel the clerk didn't want to accept it thinking it was a counterfiet bill..Had to get the manager to ok it.

I have to know the ASCII codes but it sucks cause I have to look at my cheat sheet to do it.

Note: I was desperate to find a thread just so i can type something and came across this.
