    The problem is Elway.

The Packers have a chance to beat limp's Chiefs Sunday night with Mahomes injured.

Elway is the problem, yes, but Flacco is the symptom. He is a scourge upon my favorite team. PapaD isn't happy.....

I'm going to be a Debbie Downer. First off, I like football...especially the strategy aspect. That said, if it wasn't an American pastime, schools would never allow it. It's like boxing. These kids sprinting towards each other and repeatedly banging heads together is the dumbest shit that is encouraged by schools. "Hey, let's prepare these kids for life by educating them, then send them out on the field to damage their brains for fun!" CTE does more than lower IQs. It's not easily detected and it's treated like it's a rare occurrence. If a kid gets a black eye from a baseball it will heal and the kid doesn't have to live the rest of his life with a black eye.

I would tend to agree with this. Thankfully I have a daughter and she’s into hoops!

Flacco has the slowest reaction and release of any QB in the NFL. He gets sacked so many times because he takes too long.

These kids play football, soccer, baseball, etc. One out of how many thousand will ever be good enough to make a career of it. Their parents will drive them all over creation for traveling teams. Some parents get almost abusive if the kid doesn't win. In the meantime, especially football, the kid can be injured for life... or worse. Every year we read some high school or college kids who drop dead at football practice. Today, Kansas State beat the #5 ranked Oklahoma Sooners. One of the KSW players got hit so hard ABC wouldn't even show a replay of it. They said it was too graphic.
OTOH, a kid can play golf the rest of their life. Family, friends, business associates. We have people in their 80's still playing regularly at our course. Likewise, look at the debate team. STEM, if there is a program close. High School ROTC. In a competitive work environment, kids who have the assets some of these programs can teach them will be head and shoulders ahead of the kid who played football.
Now, there are college scholarships available for athletes. Not all will qualify. You have to be the best of the best of your high school team. But, there are scholastic scholarships too.
Sorry! As you can tell, I believe far too much emphasis has been put on sports through elementary and high school. We have kids coming out of high school who can't read or write or make change... but they can catch a baseball. That's not doing the child any good!
None of our kids played sports. Our son did go out for wrestling one season. He was a beanpole without a muscle in his body. When he enlisted in the Army, he was 6'-3" and weighed 132 pounds. About as big around as my little finger! Today, 15 years later, he tries to keep his weight at 200 and he is solid muscle. Gym rat on his way to work three days/week. At least one full marathon/year. Has made rank about two years ahead of the Army average all the way through. Just made E-8 which will give him a super retirement in another 5 years. No sports. Just work ethic, integrity, and desire... a commitment to being good at what he does.
    Rant off!!!

I agree, limp. My loves baseball and is very talented but he has a lot of competition in this world and it will be tough for him to get a scholarship. Golf on the other hand, my son's small stature won't hinder his opportunity and he is exceptional. Has beautiful touch, can work the ball both ways, he is driving the ball well over 200 yards and he weighs 85 lbs. He won his last Jr tournament by 11 shots. I told him if he gets an academic or sports scholarship he will get the cash we are saving for his college.
