This reminds me of courses around here. I really can't wait for spring...

Rock: You will love this course. I have played it once and was crazy about it.

The highest rated course we are going to play is Limestone Springs - which is rated by Golf Digest at the #77 Public Access course in the U.S. These ratings are done by their editors/editorial staff.

The Places to Play Ratings however - are done by readers who send in their comments. The Places to Play rating on Limestone is a 4.5 out of 5.

Ballantrae has only been open nine months and I am telling you it is only a scootch behind Limestone Springs. After enough readers have played it and sent in their ballots - it will come in a strong 4.0.

A really nice track.....

Looks sweet.

How far is it from the hostel, er, your place? ;)

Green fees didn't look to terribly insane either, from what I read.

That's totally the type of course i'd be looking to play. I wouldn't mind something different, but it's always nice to have the feel of your own backyard too.

We will get there from the hotel in about 15-20 minutes....

I keep thinking about the trip. On the day we play Ballantrae, we will have another course only 7-8 minutes away that we could play also. So - for our 36 holes of golf that day - we have the option of playing all 36 at Ballantrae or splitting time and going to Oak Mountain State Park for 18 also. OM is a course that - when it opened in the 70's - was really good. Then, it went downhill over time. But it got a $5M redo late last year and reopened about a month ago. So it is probably a pretty nice track now....

Just something else we can consider. Does the group want to play the greatest variety of courses or keep it simple as possible and play 36 at the same place??

I can only speak for myself, but I think the variety would appeal to everyone moreso than just one track.

But, if it's a huge hassle to track back and forth, perhaps this should be addressed. But if we're only a 20 minute ride away, that wouldn't be a problem i don't think.

I kinda agree with Rock on the variety. Gawd this keeps happening. :wow:

If it's not a real hassle it would be nice to see some different courses and it sounds like you have a large number of quality tracks.

Sweet. Dave is now brainwashed.

My work here is done. ;)

Maybe get a feel for what the feild wants to do and go from there. But, as mentioned, the more one gets to see, the better it would be. In my opinion, obviously.

OK - as we get closer to the trip - I think we need to have a conference call or two and discuss....plus I would like to visit the course before I put it on the agenda...

Yeah the budget has been tight lately and winning a few bucks from some out of town schleppers will smooth things out....... :D

I haven't posted pictures of my swing so I don't know how he saw it. But that schleppers comment is gonna cost him some strokes. :p

Oh and Rock, I'm pretty sure you're from out of town too.

It sounds like a Ginger Ale sponsored tourney.

Dave, does Canada count as "out of town"? Geeze, I thought I was getting kinda close with you guys....

(sniff...) :(

That is the name of the tourney.

The Schleppers Open.

Someday this is gonna be big.

Sorry Rock, but if Texas is out of town, I'm afraid Canada is way out of town.
