Norman has to be brain dead to pick Scott.

I'm sorry... I know he's a good lookin' kid.. I know he's got some talent... but he's the most over-rated player that I can think of. Not to mention >I< could beat him and his game right now!!

    ....ok well maybe not.

Wasn't J.B. Holmes a captain's pick in the Ryder Cup? On his last hole he hit like a 370 yd drive followed with a wedge to a couple feet to ice his match. What has he done since?

Anything can happen. I wouldn't be surprised to see Adam play well.

i don't understand your logic. Holmes did a hell of lot more before the event to garner a pick. what happens afterwards in not applicable.

Adam Scott, at this point in his career, may be the worst pick in the President's Cup's short history.

He may play well, or get a hot partner, and put up some numbers and justify hit presence. Anything can happen really. But before the exhibition starts, he is flat-out a terrible pick. Definitely Mrs. Norman's pick.

    Does Greg even watch golf?

It'd be the same scorn if Freddie would have picked Howell the 3rd or somesuch.

I have always heard of Adam Scott going to be the next "big thing". Every year its going to finally "be his year". He's already almost twice as old as Rory McIlroy and has won nothing important ever...

Didn't he win the Players Championship & a few other PGA events? I'm not defending his selection whilst in the middle of a slump but I think that's a little harsh.

forgot to mention Norman's other pick, Ryo Ishikawa. entertaining style for sure, but a winner? hmm, what is he, 17 years old?

Never know whats gona happen. But the only reason I would think Norman picked Scott was because he is an Aussie?. That's just my opinion.

Worst pick ever, makes Norman look like a poor and selfish captin IMO.

    HG,

Let me start by saying that I'm not about to defend Scott's form slump. There might have been an emotional element in Norman picking Scott. Scott was a Norman protege whom he groomed from his late teens. There is a strong bond there. That does not mean, however, that I'm advocating that Scott should have been picked based on that.

On the other hand, the Presidents Cup is match play. Not only is it man vs man, it is a series of single rounds, not four rounds of stroke play. Norman would have taken the unique features of match-play into account (IMO) when deciding whether to pick Scott.

Whether it will be the right choice; time will tell.
