I just read the story on the BBC website about the most banned books in America, I can understand why the top one is banned given the age group it is aimed a, but why "His Dark Materials"? These are some of the best books I've ever read, there's nothing offensive in them. Has anybody read them or heard of why they are banned over there?

Schools can 'ban' books, however, due to the freedom of speech, no books are 'banned' by the government as it is unconstitutional.

Political correctness, for the most part; wouldn't want people having ideas about things.
