Anybody want to play some fantasy football? I'm hosting a league. I really enjoyed this last year. Fantasy football makes it much more fun to watch games that you wouldn't be interested in otherwise.

I'm using Yahoo!. It's free to play unless you want to use the optional for-pay stuff like real-time points, stats, mobile software, etc. Even if you go for the optional stuff it's really cheap. I got a kick out of getting scoring updates on my cell phone while watching the games at the sports bar last year.

Here is the info. You can email/PM here, too for the info to join.

If it is going to be head-head play, and not a stats league, I will play!

Yeah, it's head-to-head play. The defaults for everything were used other than having 2 WR's instead of 3 and having 1 WR/RB. So, you can have more WR's than RB's or more RB's than WR's.

Thanks again to Slingblade for allowing me to do things like this at Shot Talk!

The only fantasies I have that relate to football involve cheerleaders. I don't suppose you have anything like that? :p

There are seven teams so far and still room for three.

You guys must be able to play golf during the winter...not much of that here hehe.

    Still room?

If there's still room I may be interested. I already play in one yahoo league and have a lot of fun with it. It sounds as if you're doing a live draft. If I am unable to log in for it, is it possible to have the computer draft for me off of a list? The entire process is automatic in the other league.

Yep. It's a live online draft at Yahoo! August 31st 12:30 PM MST (10:30 eastern). This will be the first online draft for me to be in, but I think if you are not there during the draft that the system does the picks for you. This was the case in another league I was going to join. That draft has already taken place. At least one person was not there and picks were automatically made for him. It would be better to be there for the draft, though. Otherwise, it's not the same. The draft is the most important part of the entire process.

There are still only 7 teams.

    There are 9 teams now.

2 questions - what position is W/R? And how will the defence draft work? Will the defences be listed in the player list??

The W/R slot can either be a wide receiver or a running back. This is the only change I made to the default player slots. I think there are 3 wide receivers by default...now it can be 2 or 3...your choice.

You should be able to draft a defense any time you want during the draft. Defenses will probably be picked near the end of the draft.

For those players that are new to fantasy football I will look for some tips. Basically, I think running backs go earliest, then quarterbacks, then wide receivers/tight ends, then defenses, then kickers. It can vary, though. You can only start one quarterback each week, so don't draft too many. Kickers are easy to pick up later...just get one. Defenses are also easy to pick up at any time after the draft.

    Which team is yours VtDivot?

    Did you sign up jscott?

There is still a spot for one more player (so far)!

I am Gang Green. My pal at work is Athlete's Feet.

How does the draft order work? Is it a snake draft with the 1st round order set by draw?

Cool. Welcome to both of you.

It's good to know someone in the league and play against once or twice. A golf buddie of mine just signed up to take the last spot. I played with him in the fantasy football league at work last season, too.

Unless someone opts out this will be it (10 managers). I have asked for people to let me know if they can't play in the league every week.

Draft order is random and done by the system.

To go along with the fantasy football league, I just created a NFL survival football league. I have never played in one of these. It looks like fun. You can play in this survival football league even if you don't play in the fantasy football league.

From what I understand, you just pick a team to win each week. If your team wins you live on. If not, you're out. Period!

This sounds like fun to me!

Here is the information you need to join:

    group ID: 11029
    group password: mgdff

Go to http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/survival/register/joinprivategroup and enter the group ID and password.

The league is currently set to have a maximum of 50 players.

    Sign up and have fun!

This looks really easy...no draft...only one choice to make...etc.

Those are lots of fun, and a lot of strategy is required since you can't pick the same team twice.

I might need an alternate. People might drop out before the draft. One player's wife may be having a baby draft day hehe. If a spot opens up I will keep you in mind!
