Anyone tried the AVX balls yet?

I've been playing ProV1s since they first came out (and Balatas before that and DTs before that) so I'm kind of a die-hard. But if this feels like a ProV but flies lower and spins less, I'm all in.

    Anyone?

I've heard the same as you. A lower trajectory than the ProV and maybe a little longer. Very similar spin around the greens. I've found about a half dozen on the course. (If they're lost, that means they maybe aren't going as straight as some would like!) Haven't played them. Game has been pathetic and I don't want to try a premium ball when I'm not hitting anything well.

My golf coach still plays tournaments and is sponsored by Titleist. He has tried the AVX but says he still prefers the ProV1. He said the new ProV1 has a bit of extra distance compared to the previous model so there’s no need to think of an option like the AVX.

So I'm not so concerned with more distance, I'd just like better distance control. Especially on the greens.

I have three balls I'm going to test over the next few weeks. The AVX, the Snell Red MTB and the Pinnacle Soft. I’ve heard good things about them all.

taylormade.com has a survey to fill out for a 4-pack of their newest balls. Might want to give them a try vs. both ProV and AVX.

Tried the Snell today. Really wanted to like it. Fine off full shots, but was too clicky round the green. Didn’t like it puttting especially. I lasted 12 holes and changed to a Callaway Truvis, my putting instantly got better! Next candidate is AVX. I’ll check out the TM but I’m sure offer is just US based.

That is exactly the way the AVX plays; lower flight and less spin than AVX. Will add a little distance on drives because of lower landing angle. Has enough spin to hold greens but not necessarily enough spin to make it "back up".

You NEED to try the Wilson Staff ZIP ball. For the money it's great and also try the discontinued Bridgestone Fix ball if you can find them.

My driver is 8.5 degrees... I'm not sure I can launch it much lower. :D

    That’s a long handled putter.

I tried the AVX on Saturday, a bright yellow one. 2 chip-ins, 26 putts, enough said!

Actually, I noticed it didn't spin as much but that was ok, only a marginal difference. Felt lovely to putt with. I'd need 2-3 more rounds under my belt to make a full disclosure statement, but looks promising,
