After some exceptional play in Qatar finishing 4th last week, JD goes on this week to shoot 79 in the first round of the Indian Open and then withdraws. Would love to get in side that head of his and see what elephants and dragons are kicking around. He defines the phrase troubled! Maybe he just doesn't like curry.

I'm with you IG. I'd love to know what is rattling around in his head. The man had/has all the talent needed to be a contender week to week. But has chosen to fritter it away on women and booze and gambling. Who knows how many wins he could have had if only someone in his entourage could have had the ability to snatch him up by the hair and get through to him. Point out how he was wasting his talent.

    John Daly...

I really like to see him do well at golf tournaments. I hate his give up attitude though. Shoot a 79 and just gives up. I understand he has no chance of winning, but damn it, you started it, you should finish it. He's got the skill to do well, he just needs the mental game to grind through the tough rounds.

I used to work with a guy that we called Daly. He looked nothing like John, but his swing was an absolute copy of John's. This guy would almost hit himself in the left knee with the club head. He was WAY past parallel. Great golfer though and a very long hitter.

What's scarier is not that he's a bad golfer - he's a bad parent also.

    How so?

I'm a terrible golfer...but my parenting skills are pretty much in tact.

Yep, I wonder what's going on in his head. The irony is - that when he's interviewed he comes across very well. A softly spoken guy. Not a ranting hot head at all. The JD mystery continues.

He definitely gives the golf world something to talk about besides Tiger...

He makes headlines if he's even in contention for a tournament....

He should at least respectfully miss the cut.

I tried to stick with him, but perhaps it's time to hang it up professionally. Or grow up. One of the two.

Always been a Daly fan, but I don't see either of these things happening.

Yup, he needs the money and if he hasn't learned by now he isn't likely to anytime soon. I am a bit surprised he keeps getting invites and exemptions though, I mean can he still be that much of a draw?

As long as he can light it up occasionally, and hit it a country mile, I'm afraid he will keep getting invites and excemptions. Which sadly only seems to perpetuate his thinking that he can do what ever he pleases and still draw a check. I hate to say it, but maybe sitting at home for a year or two till he realizes he has to clean his act up might be the only thing that will wake him up. And I'm not even sure that will work?

Did't he get suspended for the year at one point from the PGA? Maybe he needs a golf suspensioon, not just a tour suspension!

He continues to draw the crowds, and get exemptions for only one reason. Everybody likes to see a good train wreck.

A few years ago on that show of his he was being a total ass, and encouraging his kids to act the same way towards their mother.
