How can the parents think this is a good idea? This is what I was thinking as I came to the final hole today. I could hear kids playing. I know our course has a room available for parties or other events. Today it was used for a party. Kids play and make noise. Not the problem, however, the location they were playing...
    ON THE PUTTING GREEN!!!
I mentioned it to our general manager... he barely flinched. Not a big deal to him. I guess it's of no concern if the practice green is chewed up or gouged. Running, skipping, jumping, piling on top of one another with total disregard for where they were. There is plenty of grass not on the putting green to play on. Am I over reacting?

I would not get pissed, but they need to get there asses off the putting green and show some respect.

It is a golf course, not the damn playground at McDonalds.

You need to join a real golf course.

Honestly, my first though was its nice to see kids at a golf course! I'm probably under reacting though. :)

IMHO Too many parents let their kids run wild these days.

To quote my Mom: You can show you are an ass at home, but don't you dare show you are an ass in public!:)

I don't mind the kids playing, just the location. On the green.

I doubt they will hurt that putting green one bit, I have used that one a number of times and there is nothing they can do thats any worse than the groundskeepers handiwork.

We host a cookout at our course every year I'm late August, and all sorts of members bring their you'ins and whatnot, but they always go down to the ninth green, and play with the frogs by that water, or on the green itself, and it's bad because us as players are trying to play that hole, and no one is bothering keeping their kids off the final hole...

My advice: write down a par and go catch frogs. It's not like it's the US Open and how often in your life can you still act like a kid? That's the best part, or one of, being a dad. Getting to act like a kid again.

    You must be joking.

When I was a kid, we all ran feral.

If we were causing shit on a golf course, it was because we rode our bikes down there and invaded it ... not because we were brought there for a birthday party.

Maybe we grew up different household styles. My Dad was a truck driver and if he told you to knock it off, you best knock it off.

I was in the grocery store yesterday and watched a tween tell her Mom to fck off. I guarantee you, when I was a kid, if I would have done that shit... Big Ken would have bounced my ass off the floor.

We did not tear shit up and disrespect adults. We had fun for sure...

Different backround, but same style of upbringing, no meant no, and any back talk, was met fiercely.

And Jim, it's all well and good to play by the pond, but I neglected to mention, there is also a pond on the clubhouse's front lawn, in no way in the way of anything, I understand that it really isn't a big deal, but there is a time and a place.

I get what your saying. I guess my thoughts are, I'd rather have them play at the golf course than somewhere that may be worse for them. Hey, maybe one of them takes up golf!
