Or is the Golf Digest hot list a waste of paper? The blurbs, and that's all they are since they review EVERY club that advertises with them, are straight from the MFG and the actual comments are nothing.

I'm sure Golf Magazines "club test" wasn't much better but I wasn't able to read it. Magazine fell in the toilet and there was no recovery. :)

I don't look at the hot list either. The club tests are pretty cool though.

I don't normally subscribe to either. I only get them because I bought something and it came with a subscription.

I like user reviews too. Golf Mags are useless though.

Hot lists are just another advertisement.

The best equipment reviews were in the Peterson's Golfing magazine in the 1980's. Magazine didn't last, because they minced no words and did not edit opinions of the testers. OEM's quite advertising as the magazine continued to print negative reviews.

Today's Golf and Golf Digest reviews are all "Happy, happy!" The magazine reviews are worse than the other golf discussion board whose name ends in "X".

I get Golf and GD for free - not sure why but they keep showing up in my mailbox. I like the course reviews. The equipment reviews are all a bunch of hooey.

Ditto. The equipment reviews are a manufacturer whore fest.

For awhile I was getting 2 of each, not sure why either.

I'm not a fan of course reviews either. Most are of courses I will never have the chance to play. Of course, I'm not retired. ;)

And that's what is wrong with the world. No one tells it like it is anymore, they are too worried to hurt someone's feelings. And in the long run it all boils down to the all mighty dollar. They are all getting fat wallets producing this crap!!

I was reading an article about the demise of golf and about how TMAG's sales are down 20% etc... That is a self inflicted wound. TMAG rolled out too much product too fast. I have not even had my SLDR irons a year and they are yesterday's news... I think I paid $800 and change and now they are selling them for $400 something.

All the companies are on for a decline in sales. To this day o don't understand why someone would pay $400 for a new driver when in a summer you can get it on close out for $149.99?

At least if I buy a new car vs. used I usually get a better warranty.

Nope. Ping has always been my favorite for irons. I will try other stuff from time to time.

All of the magazines are rubbish, same thing with all the various workout magazines too. Every month it's a new topic on how to get big fast and the previous months article is supposedly bull$hit now. Well the same goes with golf rags, whoever spends the most $$$ on advertising gets the best "results".

I will say there is one article each month I like. Can't remember which mag it is but its called "Undercover Tour Pro." It's an anonymous pro writing an article each month about stuff that happens on the tour. It can be funny and interesting all at the same time.
