I think you swing the pendulum a little too far in the other direction. Augusta will always be a place where Tiger will do well when healthy as it is relatively short and the rough is not very penalizing. I do not see Tiger reeling off a string of majors due to the fact that his current game does not match up as well as it used to at US Open type setups and the field he competes against has definitely raised its level of play. He may pass Jack, but I feel it will take a few more years and likely consist of Masters wins and maybe a St Andrews Open Championship.

The US open this year is at Bethpage Black where he's won before and the PGA is at Pebble where he's won before. The 2020 British Open will be at Royal St Andrews where he's won before. I like his chances.

Which, by the way, is probably Phil's last good chance to win the grand slam.

I was there in 2010. I’d planned to return for this year but it kind of snuck up on me. You’ll have a blast.

His game is different than it was when he last won at those locations. His driving distance and accuracy are not even in the top 25 anymore and Bethpage Black is a beast. The rough at Pebble is going to be brutal and I am sure the USGA will find some way to screw up the classic design. Augusta, St Andrews, and maybe a couple of the other Open Championship venues are his best bet unless the field decides to fold around him.

The USGA will screw up Pebble like they always do. I think the USGA setups have cost Phil at least 3 US Opens. I would love to see Phil get better of them this year, but I will not be holding my breath.

I definitely have zero faith in the USGA.

Agree, they need to leave the course alone. They won't.

2021 will be the year Tiger has a chance of catching Jack. Augusta, Torrey
Pines, and St. Andrews are three of the four venues. Assuming he stays healthy and mentally tough, maybe Augusta next year and one or two in those 3 venues in 2021. Tiger needs the friendly confines of Augusta and St Andrews which are less penal of wayward drives and more penal of poor distance control and approach shot placement. Torrey Pines is a wild card depending on how bad the USGA screws it up. Tiger is motivated at TP, seeing as he basically played 2008 US Open on one leg with ACL tear, meniscus tear, and cracked bones in his left leg. The question is can he get to 2021 healthy.

It’s really awesome to see Tiger back and playing well. It’s good for golf. I don’t care what anybody says, he moves the needle more than 10 Rory’s or 10 Dustin Johnson’s.

I could see him winning another Masters or 2, and you can’t count him out at St Andrews.

If he stays healthy it’s going to be fun to watch!

If he wins another major this year, the needle will slam all the way to the right.

Let’s back off a bit on that needle. Tiger could not find fairways at Bethpage this week. I see the same issue for him at Pebble Beach, especially when the USGA tricks it up to make it tougher than it needs to be. Unless he plays out of his mind on a given week, his next major will be at Augusta, St Andrews, or Torrey Pines if healthy.
