So...I'm starting to hate my consumer level low end range/oven. Not enough room, not enough BTU's, simmering isn't great, oven heat is less than stable and accurate and even less evenly distributed.

I'm hoping to spend around $2500...so this pretty much rules out the likes of Wolf/Viking/etc, high end range solutions.

Anyone have any suggestions? I'm really only interested in gas but brand suggestions are great. I'm not sure if anyone around here even rocks a mid-tier range/oven, but it's worth a shot.

I found a Bosch HDI8054U locally for like $1500 which seems pretty good compared to online prices for the same model. Anyone have anything bad to say about it? I'd prefer not stainless...wife prefer's black appliances, but I'll take whatever performs.

I've also read some good stuff about NXR ranges...but don't have any first hand experience with them.

LOVE our Samsung double. Upper heats up to 350* jiffy quick and lower handles the bigger tasks. Lowe's.

I have a GE (not sure of the model) with two separate ovens, the smaller on top. I have to say 98% of the time it's the smaller oven that we use. I do not think I could ever go back to a single oven profile.

How tall are the bigger ovens when you have the dual?

When I do prime rib, I have a semi-deep pan, a roasting rack, and then a fairly large hunk of meat on top of that...so even in my single oven, with the rack all the way at the bottom, I don't have a ton of room above it. I'm worried there won't be enough room for a prime rib. Which, for me, isn't going to fly.

I don't think you can get that kind of room in a double without paying a nice premium Eric.

Do you have any appliance shops that are local? I am not talking Sears,Lowes etc... I am talking a dedicated store. We have a locally owned store and it is great. They carry more of the better quality items.

Right, which is why I don't think I'll be going with a double.

I have a couple...I just don't have the time at the moment to go visit them and deal with the sales people. Just trying to get an idea in my head at the moment. Maybe hear a few brands I didn't know of.

Interesting idea...however, I am stuck with a 30" opening since we're not going to be remodeling the kitchen....I'm guessing a side by side at 30" is going to be extremely restrictive on what I can fit in there.

Fuck it. Go for the full remodel and film it. Maybe you could get it on the DIY Network.

Call it: "Trashing Your House With Glark".
