Just played Long Island National on the North Fork of Long Island in Riverhead. OMG, 6838 yards of almost pure links golf....sand dunes, bunkers and wind galore. Well managed and in excellent condition. Good staff and a bargain during the week. A 73.3/129 rating, but the slope feels more like a 140. I think this track will, over time, get a lot more attention as one of the premier publics in New York. If you find yourself out in the Hamptons and want a treat, take the time to check this course out.

Not the National Golf Links of America in Southampton, Long Island? Where is Southampton in relation to Riverhead?

This course is on the North Fork about a 40 minute drive from Southampton.

Cool MBC4! I caddied at Shinnecock Hills for 2 summers while studying (1989 and 1990). Was lucky enough to play SHGC, NGLA several times on caddy days. We also played a few other muni courses in the area. We stayed in Southampton in the Village near Buckleys Irish Pub and Drivers Seat. Ahh happy memories. You from Long Island?
