FACT: THE GOLF BALL DOESN'T KNOW how old you are. That's a really great thing about this game called golf.

Davis Love III (Allison)
So whether you're 21-year-old Jordan Spieth winning two majors and becoming king of the golf world, or you're 51-year-old Davis Love III coming back from surgery and scouting Ryder Cup talent, the golf ball flat doesn't care.

Just hit it solidly, hit it true and get it in the hole.

And that, my friends, is exactly what Love did Sunday at the Wyndham Championship in Greensboro, North Carolina. He fired a closing 64 at Sedgefield Country Club to steal the trophy from Jason Gore, Tiger Woods, Scott Brown, Paul Casey ... all those young guys. (They're all young compared to Love.)

It was Love's 21st PGA Tour title and third win in Greensboro. He is the third-oldest player to win on tour. (Sam Snead and Art Wall Jr. are smiling down on Love from golf heaven.)

This unexpectedly extends Love's PGA Tour season and career. The win gets him into the FedEx Cup Playoffs, Hyundai Tournament of Champions and the Masters.

No one expected this ending. Instead, everyone wondered if Tiger Woods, just two strokes off the lead heading into Sunday, could win his 80th tour event and creep closer to Snead's record 82 victories. Tiger never got it going and finished four strokes off the pace.

Again, old Sam must be smiling.

Meanwhile, attendance was way up at the Wyndham Championship, thanks to the surprise appearance by Tiger, who played well and even hit his driver well.

It was a good week for golf.
