Pick 4 golfers to win the Open Championship. Picks in this thread only, please. Use the discussion thread for banter.

    Scoring is as follows:

If you are the only one to correctly pick the winner, you automatically win.
If there are two or more people who picked the winner, only they will be eligible for the "playoff."
If nobody picks the winner, everyone who made picks is eligible for the "playoff."

    Playoff details:
Golfers earn points equivalent to their finish. For example, if Phil finishes T24th, he earns 24 points.
Golfers that miss the cut earn last place (to make the cut) points +1 point.
I will add up all of the points earned by all of your picks.

LOWEST POINT TOTAL WINS THE CHALLENGE.

In the event of a tie: Whoever picked the highest-placed golfer will win. If the winners pick the exact same people, whoever picked the winning combo first (I can see revision history) wins.

You may make only one set of picks but you may edit them until the Wednesday night before the tournament starts. I close the thread to picks on Thursday morning.

    Good luck!

I really think this is such a "Wide Open" field this week. The weather always plays a big role, especially in Scotland. But we have had no rain for ~4 weeks, the fairways are hard and fast, but the green are soft. I don't think a bomber will win it, perhaps Zach Johnston, Matt Kuchar? I've no clue, really so my four are all based on gut instinct. Which as we know has never worked before.

Carnoustie is dry... extremely dry! This will not be a "bomb and gouge" tourney. We're going to see irons off tee boxes and accuracy required to stay away from the pot bunkers. Even though Reed is one of my favorites and I'd like to see Fowler win a major... I'm beginning to think folks familiar with Carnoustie and comfortable with links golf will come out the winner.
I'm suspecting Poulter will be fired up with something to prove after his interaction with a marshal at last week's tourney. Stenson has been having elbow issues and his health is questionable. Still, Stenson is one of the best iron players and grew up around links golf. Early gut reactions are usually the best and changes usually fail me. Doesn't stop me from making last minute changes... against my better judgement. So, my final picks....

    Rose
    Stenson
    Poulter
    Fleetwood

I heard on the radio today that they reckon 100 players have a serious chance this week, which makes it very Open. There is a split in strategy. The bombers figure they can carry the bunkers and get close to greens. This happened at the Irish Open a few weeks ago. Rahm, Fox etc. were crushing their drivers, while McDowell was running irons and 5 woods into the bunkers he was trying to avoid. So strategy off the tee will be important.

Weather looks good all week, except for some light rain tomorrow. There will be a bit of a breeze on Sunday afternoon. I think it will come down to experience and nerve in the end. Holes 16-18 have a very nasty sting to them.

I have no clue who will win. Hoping McIlroy or Rose.

Thanks Tea. Molinari was my wild card. I had a good feeling about him as he’s been in good form lately.
