Saw a Pinnacle Gold in the used ball bin at the pro shop and decided to give it a try. Went to the first tee and gave it a whack with a smooth, easy swing. I looked up and couldn't believe my eyes. The Gold is indeed a long driving ball. Wonder what it is about the Gold that makes it so much longer? Is the Gold and Gold Distance the same ball? Is the Lady Gold the same ball? Those three seem to be marketed together without any explanation of differences.

Distance with golf balls is one thing. Spin, feel for putting and touch are completely another, and where most people should focus their purchasing on. Distance doesn't mean anything if you can't use the ball where the strokes are made/saved.

Truly, that is only 20 strokes of a round give or take how many par 5's, so you assume 35 putts, and 25 shots into/around greens, u woul be buying the one that helps in the area I make 60 out of 80 strokes... But that's just me...

20 strokes? Are you counting mulligans? ;)

Courses around here have 18 holes, normally 4 of them being par 3's. That's 14 shots at maximum that you could potentially swing the big dog.

The number of times that I stand on a driver and require maximum distance in a round is very few. I'd rather have 155 coming home than 120 and it be in the heavy rough/trees/barbecue on the property alongside the golf course.

But then, I don't get all the chicks....that supposedly hang out on golf courses....

He may have been counting the "going for it in 2" shots, as well.

Yes that, or if you can't reach, those three woods that you try to get as close as you can.

I looked up this subject and the most replies were this order...
    1. Longest ball ever - TaylorMade TP Black
    2. Others very long - HX Hot, Pinnacle Gold, E7.
    3. I think the TM SuperDeep was long also.
