Emergency Crews Responding Flooding Reported Over Large Parts of Manhattan Updates Little Apple Post
Couldn't buy rain all Spring. Really dry, here... until this afternoon. Heavy thunderstorms started around 3 p.m. We're caught in what they are calling a "train" of thunderstorms. Heavy rain just keeps rolling through. Some areas of town with 6" of rain... and it's not supposed to stop before 3 or 4 a.m.
Our home is in the flood plain. The creek got up pretty high about an hour ago. A little break in the rain and it receded. Will probably come back up as other storms roll through. Even if the creek comes out of its banks, we are fairly well protected with hurrican shutters on the basement and a shutoff valve on the sewer so it won't back up into the basement.
Daughter on her way home from work followed some other cars into deep water. Their new 2014 Malibu is being towed to the dealership to see if the engine can be saved. Her husband was pretty upset, but when it's raining so hard you can't hardly see the street in front of you, it's difficult to detect deep water.
Should help the fairways and tee boxes at the course!!!!
