    THE 148TH OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP tees off on Thursday at Royal Portrush Golf Club in Northern Ireland. The only other time the Open was played at Royal Portrush was 68 years ago when Englishman Max Faulkner prevailed. A field of 156 professionals and amateurs will compete this time. Francesco Molinari is the defending champion.

    In my opinion Rory Mcllroy is poised to lead the 148th Open Championships.

    As to who has the better chances of taking the claret jug, US-based players generally have a homegrown advantage in this tournament. As far as odd tips show, all eyes are on Rory Mcllory, so much that this article helped me understand why he stands out:
