Neat to be able to watch golf at 5 a.m. Different play than we are used to on the PGA Tour. We'll see who are the best players when they have to leave driver in the bag. Those who can hit it straight with long irons or fairway woods should score well.

TW looking solid. He's having some signs of temper issues which have not helped his game in the past. However, there is probably no other person who can hit it better if he leaves his driver at home. (TW wearing white at The Open's opening day is akin to Brittney Spears wearing white at her next wedding!)

My picks are doing so so. McDowell and Kuchar are solid. Rose is disappointing. Donald hasn't started yet. If the wind comes up, the rest of the field will have trouble equalling the scores of those already in the clubhouse.

The leaderboard at The Open can always be shaken up as weather changes. This year should be no different. With these narrow fairways, deep bunkers, and heavy rough the wind can be an evil force to contend with.

I know one thing, this live Open coverage on ESPN is hindering my production today. The course looks good! I don't think I've ever seen an Open course that is this green.

If anybody hits a mid / long iron cut shot better than Tiger does, I've never seen him.

As I was watching this yesterday, I couldnt help but wonder why the RGA didnt run down to the local Walmart (or whatever) and pick up a wet vac to get most of the standing water out of those bunkers, especially the green-side ones. It certainly wouldnt have taken much time.

I was also quite surprised to learn that if getting relief from standing water in a bunker, that you were able to clean your ball. I thought all the hazard rules also applied to bunkers.

Just realized that the Open isnt on network TV, WTF? I thought it was going to be broadcast on ABC, imagine my surprise and disappointment when I found I will not be able to watch.

    A sad day indeed.

Coverage will begin at 6 a.m. ET tomorrow, Sunday, morning. ABC will replay the highlights tomorrow afternoon. By then, we'll already know if the fella in the red shirt won.

Yeah, I downgraded my TV options so I won't be able to watch until later. This is the first time I have actually wanted to watch something on a channel I don't get. I will live, not worth the extra $$ to upgrade my choices. That and its amazing how much you can get done when you don't watch much TV.

What happened to Phil? Is his arthritis killing his game? Nobody (myself included) even considered him to win the Open.

    Damn.

I for one am glad to see him in the winners circle again! I know he really would like to add a Masters to his trophy case, but this must be just as sweet!

    Final thoughts:

Good for Ernie. You were one of the few guys to actually shoot under par on the final day, and you made a longish birdie putt on 18 to get there. You earned it.

Sorry, Adam. You really didn't crumble. You hit a few poor shots at the wrong time, and missed a short putt. This happens to most guys at some point. It is a shame that it happened for you when it did. That approach to 18 was great. You can't make every putt. You'll win. Keep your chin up.

Tiger could've shot another 67 and won handily. He couldn't have known that when he was trying to make those aggressive plays on a course where a minor miss can be DEAD. And he couldn't have expected Adam to fall off of the world and lose 4 shots in the last 4 holes. Tiger is GOING TO WIN MORE MAJORS. No one is contending as consistently as he is, and also winning so many non-major tournaments.

    Graeme... Nice 3W, bro.

I actually think Tiger showed exactly what I thought he would: He is still one of the best players in the Tour, but he is no longer "something else" and will never be again. He will keep in competition, making Top 10s and winning small tournaments as he has done, but the chance of winning a Major now a days is as high as Scott, Donald, Westwood, Bradley or any other "top golfer" (15 majors in a row now with different winners).

The tournaments he is winning, the ones you call small, are the top flight tournaments on tour. They have the best field and the toughest courses, not majors but not far off.

That's not to say that I don't agree somewhat, but like SUX said, nobody else is contending AS FREQUENTLY as he is.

Kudos for your analysis and balanced view. There are many who will try and sum it up stupidly by saying "Adam Scott chokes". Idiots.
