The media. First class backslappers with the memory of a gold fish. Don't get me wrong Jordan Spieth is a fine young player but now he has won the Masters, they're talking like he will dominate the sport for decades and the fellow who won the last two majors in a row is completely forgotten.

    So true.

I really like Spieth but those talking heads were going overboard with their cock gobbling praise. They kept saying the same shit over and over. You can bet if Spieth does something stupid though, those same talking heads will throw him under the bus.

I heard them saying the Spieth/Rors rivalry will be reminiscent of Tiger/Phil. Since I couldn't give a shit what the media says (especially that goddamn Trip Eisenhower or the dreadful Frank Nobilo or that duplicitous taint Brandel Chamblee, etc...) I think they'll over-hype anyone, and I don't care. However, I see something in Spieth that I don't see in Rory/Reed/kid under 25 who is good at golf. It's not necessarily better, it's just different, and I think it'll work very well for him in the future.

Amen on the media - I watch most sports with the TV on mute - Johnny (I wish he'd shut his pie hole) Miller makes my hair hurt.

On Spieth - there seems to be something very special about this young man. I am watching with hopeful enthusiasm.

    Tiger/Phil wasn't much of a rivalry. 14 to 5? Like Manning/Brady, 4 to 1 in Super Bowls. I get why, let's hope it's more of a rivalry though.

They used the term rivalry, but I agree with you, Jim... it wasn't much of one. I guess they just mean more like "Every week the rest of the field is playing for 3rd" kinda situation. I don't see it happening with Rors/Spieth either, and that just reinforces my thought of the media being fucktarded in general.

It's good for business to have a rivalry.

The NFL doesn't really need a rivalry, people will watch regardless. Golf though needs it I think. Golf has always tried to push the rivalry: Jones/Hagen, Hogan, Snead & Nelson, Arnie/Jack, Tiger/Phil....

Not sure about a rivalry, but I'd love to see Spieth and Rory playing 1 & 2 on Sunday. IF Spieth keeps his game up, there's a ton of talent in those 2 young men.

It'll be interesting to see what sort of playing schedule Spieth settles on, particularly if he becomes more successful.

Many of the big names of the past decade seemed to have abbreviated playing schedules.

Let me check my coin jar.

P.S. I am more exited to watch a U.S. Open at Chambers Bay then I have for any other place, excluding Bethpage Black.

Bethpage in 2002 was awesome. When they came back it wasn't as awesome IMO. It was just like any other U.S. open course. Chambers should be interesting though.

Before you die, you MUST attend a U.S. Open at Pebble Beach.

2017 it's going to be held 45 minutes away from me at Erin Hills. I have played that course at a cost of $105 to walk even though they had golf carts you could rent, now they no longer allow golf carts or even a pull cart, it's carry only or use a caddie. Oh yea the cost also jumped up to $245 for 18 holes. great course but honestly I feel Wild Rock in Wisconsin Dells is superior.
