PSA: A settlement has been reached in the Equifax credit breach of 2017 that affected 147 million people.

My wife and I were both compromised but nothing bad happened to us, thankfully. Now I have free credit monitoring for the next 10 years.

Watching my 84 year old father in a golf class. Knowing how much he enjoys swinging a club gives me great enjoyment.

This is from our local police report this morning.

Officers listed a female as the victim when she reported two unknown males took her wedding ring and rape pen.

    Is it a typo?
Is she that undesirable she has to "pen them up" and take advantage of them?
Is the "pen" something her husband has/had that she wasn't to report stolen?

Am waiting for a further explanation from local authorities....

Never heard of it but without googling it I would guess it's a defense weapon, like a rape whistle but a stabby thing that's not considered a knife.

Been corrected to "vape pen". That's what I suspected when I first saw it. The vape craze is pretty big around here. Certainly led to some interesting comments until the correction....

Lost one of our "geezer group" yesterday. Almost exactly two years after being diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Not one of his doctors ever believed he would survive the cancer this long. Played golf every day he could. When undergoing chemo, his body would be shot the day after treatment. He'd be back out to play the very next day. This past few months, it became almost impossible for him to even play a full 9 holes. Still, if he could drive to the course, he would play as many as his body would allow. 7 holes and ride the last 2. 6 holes and ride the last 3. He never wanted to let the cancer win... but, of course it finally did. He was moved from the hospital to hospice on Saturday, with an "hour by hour" expectation. Passed at 7:30 Sunday morning. Family and all are relieved that he is now out of pain. Retired Lt. Colonel. Viet Nam vet. Married 52 years. Just a good guy.

We never know the day nor the time. Some sit down and give up with the diagnosis or the stroke or the heart issue or any other of many geriatric issues. Others fight to have that one more day smelling the odor of fresh cut grass or making a long putt. When visiting in Minnesota a couple weeks ago, the wife's cousin told us of his neighbor. Suffered a debilitating stroke 7 or 8 years ago. Total right side paralyzed. Can still walk/hobble with a brace on the right leg. Right arm and hand are totally useless. Plays golf every week in their league. Plays with only the left hand and plays quite well. Carries about an 18 handicap. Every winter, the wife's cousin pulls his neighbor's ice house out on the lake. Neighbor heads to the ice house about 11 a.m. and fishes until around 8 p.m. Has landed numerous large walleye and Northern pike. Holds the hook in his mouth while sliding bait on it with his one hand. Drops the line through the hole into the water. When the fish is hooked, he pulls the line up to his mouth and bites down on the line. Reaches down and pulls the line up some more, putting the next length in his teeth. Has caught many fish with just the left hand and his teeth. He just won't allow anyone to tell him he can't.
Our buddy was a lot this way. No one was going to tell him he couldn't play golf... or drive to New England last year... or drive to Chicago to see his son a couple times/year... just because he had terminal cancer. Prayers to a gentleman I was lucky to know.

Am sick and tired of people who constantly convolute the Game of Golf by using the word "golf" as a verb. It's not a verb, folks!!! It's a noun!!!

Do you say, "I'm going baseballing"? Of course not! You go play baseball.
Do you say, "I'm going soccering"? Nope! You go play soccer!
Do you say, "I'm going basketballing"? You'll be laughed at! You go play basketball.

And just like that, people will say "Let's go golf". Or, "Did you golf today". And, "I golfed yesterday". NO YOU DIDN'T!!! Go play golf! You played golf today! or I played golf yesterday!!

Now that I've expressed my feelings, let's go poker. Well, maybe there's no one to poker with so lets go Scrabble. And, if you can't find someone for either of those, you might go 'pitching'. Wait! Will you go pitch softball? Or, will you go pitch horseshoes? Or, maybe play the card game of pitch. Speaking of horseshoes, just tell someone you are going horseshoeing. They will think you are headed to the ranch to nail some metal things on the bottom of horse hoofs. Now, if you say you are going to go pitch horseshoes, they know what you are doing!

Get with it, folks! Golf is a noun!!! (In my limpictionery, anyway!)

    Rant off....

Also, according to 'dictionary.com' it's both a noun and a verb.

As Abraham Lincoln said, everything on the internet is the truth! The only authentic reference manual for proper use of the English language is the "limptionary"!!

So, this happened yesterday. My wife had to work yesterday. She is a sales manager for Dillard's and she was in the store at Desert Sky Pavilion. I had finished up my honey do list and decided to go see Hobbs and Shaw (which I still say Calvin and Hobbs a lot but that's another story). About half way through the movie my phone rings. I decide I wasn't going to be 'that' guy and ignore it. Shortly after I received a series of texts and ignore those as well. After the movie I look at my phone and see these:

Text 1 1:15 PM) "Hey I'm OK. Possible active shooter situation."

Text 2 1:27 PM) "Hi I'm OK. Possible active shooter at mall. We are in lock down."

Text 3 1:39 PM) "It was an armed robbery at jewelry store. Shoots fired no one hurt. Phx PD onsite. Mall evacuated. Waiting to clear."

Text 4 2:20 PM) "We are open again. Some on yelled gun and hysteria followed. No gun even involved. A smashed jewelry caseline only at that jewelry store. Luv you."
