Depends on whether you had the flu, you were banging somebody, or you were just a lazy ****. All 3 at once would be mega.

I've had this cough since the holidays and my dr prescribed me some cough syrup with codeine and my body didn't take to kindly to that stuff.

I would have laid there wondering what my wife had put in the cough syrup, my coffee, my recent meals, etc. I keep getting this feeling she understands more each day the difference between what I'm worth to her alive vs. dead.
Get healthy!!!! It's not that we care about you, but if we lose any more Shottalkers… the forum will disappear!!!:D

Not much they can do with drivers. They've already put restrictions on size, COR, shaft length, etc. The easiest thing would be to take control of course setup... narrow the fairways and grow the rough taller. Make missing a fairway a real penalty. Instead, they will probably come up with some other dumb idea...

    1. Participants in a sanctioned USGA event must have a waist measurement larger than their chest measurement... including the LPGA!
    2. All range balls at any sanctioned event must be whiffle balls. Any player caught hitting actual golf balls on the range will be DQ'd.
    3. Balls will be dropped in each of every 25 square feet on the greens. If any ball remains on the green, the green will be rolled to where every ball will roll off the green without assistance.
    4. A player landing his drive from the tee on the green on anything but a par 3 shall be penalized two strokes. The originators of the Game of Golf did not intend to have par 4's and par 5's driven from the tee. Hence, any player doing so should be penalized.

The USGA/R&A will be going after the golf ball. As long as they just mess with high skill players, I am fine with a distance roll back. Mess with my meager distances and I will be pissed. I still have not forgiven them for the 2010 groove rule.

I would tend to agree, I don’t usually care much about what the USGA does but with the distance/ball thing I think they let the horse out of the barn years ago. At some point courses are going to run out of real estate and money (except Augusta) and not be able to add 100 yds randomly to holes. Eventually they will have to narrow fairways and grow rough. And let’s be honest, it’s the .01% of golfers this is an issue for. Nobody I play with is hitting it too long or too straight.

I'd like to see them modify the tour to include some Extreme Smackdown Play
    1. Players in your group can blind-side tackle you at any moment of their choosing. They only get one hit per 9 holes, but you never know when it's coming. Should add a little pressure during pre-shot routine.
    2. Players in your group are allowed unlimited heckling on the putting surface. "Noonan" and "Miss it" are acceptable.
    3. Tripping is allowed at any time.
    4. Practical jokes are encouraged - substituting exploding golf balls is common.
    5. Tossing small items at your opponent mid-swing is allowed. Items must be smaller than a golf ball.

These guys are good - let's see what they can handle.

Frankly, unless we're playing in a tournament (meaning, even if we have a side bet on a weekend round), I don't give a rat's ass if your equipment meets USGA rules. Just have fun. None of us are paying our bills through golf. I'm not saying toss all the rules, but equipment conformance is not going to make any real difference in a round for anyone on this or any other golf forum.

Agree - Non-conforming drivers can add up to 5 yards, for example. Big deal...........

Is this a serious post? That's like saying pro basketball players score too many points, so make their rim smaller (but not mine!)

In pro basketball, you have highly skilled defenders playing against you, no need to change things there. Much like the way they solved the Coors Field advantage by putting the baseballs in humidors, if they want to decrease driving distance on tour they need to adjust the ball. 99% of golfers are not making golf courses obsolete with their driving distance. If you want to stick with basketball references, the NBA has an official ball. Everyone uses the same one. In the NCAA, the home team chooses which ball (manufacturer, materials, design, etc) they wish to play with and works to their advantage. Adjusting the ball specs for the PGA Tour while allowing the rest of the golf playing world to play different specs is not outlandish or out of the norm.
