I have felt bad (legs hurting mostly) for 8 months. I can barely walk. Had to quit playing golf. Had to quit working on my cars and racing. It takes ever last bit of energy I have to get up and go to work. On the weekends, all I do is sleep, so I can start all over again on Monday. The only reason I am still going to work is for the Blue Cross/Blue Shield.

After many trips to various quacks, the geniuses finally did a MRI and I have one herniated disc in my neck (C5-C6) and 4 in my Lumbar spine.

First surgery is scheduled for August 20, on my neck. I expect to be out of work for 4 weeks. After that, who knows when the lumbar surgery will be scheduled.

As someone who has “only” had one herniated disc, I can imagine the pain. Here’s hoping your surgery provides relief to the neck pain. I’m quietly confident. I hear medical “trimming” of the bulging part can bring about an almost miraculous change. Pain no more.

Since when did it become "rude" to use the reclining seat feature on a commercial airline (coach class). Isn't that why they installed reclining seats? I have heard rants on the radio lately that people consider it rude for the person in front of them to recline their seat into "their space". This happened to me on a flight when the guy behind me complained to me about reclining my seat. I pointed out to him that if he would merely recline his, he would gain back his "lost space". The flight attendant supported me as well. This guy actually started kicking my seat back and pushing on it to try and wake me. Nut job. If this is an issue, remove them. Until then, I will recline.

It became an issue when airlines continued to reduce the pitch distance between seats. People are crammed in even more. Substituting individual human crates with a feed trough at the opening may be more comfortable.

Hoping everything goes well. One of the blessings of our generation are the miracles of modern medical technology. Pay attention to what the docs tell you during the healing/rehab time. Keep us informed during your recovery.
