I run into this problem over and over again, am constantly changing, but I think I may have solved my problem. At least for now!! As my signature will tell you, I've been gaming CG15's for the majority of my season. 52, 56, 60 were the lofts. I tend to greatly over complicate myself and with three wedges plus a PW (so four wedges!) it was very easy to do. I'd have a 52 wedge yardage, but conjure up a scenario where the 56 would work... Or have a pitch that I know is 56 all day, but I'd try and hoist the 60 there. The results, were piss poor to say the least, and I was starting to get really upset with myself! Yeah I know it's really all my fault, but I gotta blame something right?!?!?!

As for the solution; last weekend we were down visiting the in-laws and made a trip to my favourite little store, we call FGO!! I stumbled across a pair of SM5's (54&58) in the used bin for $75ea. They didn't look used to me! In these parts its hard to come by these, especially in leftie! I had a lightbulb moment and walked out with these beauties under my arm!

My iron clubs have neither numbers nor names--just stamped lofts.

They're set in 5º increments, so since the 43º is the last "FW-15" and the 48º is the first "TK-15," I will call the 48, 53, and 58º clubs "wedges." However, I also bag a fourth wedge that's not really a part of the loft progression at all. It's a Ray Cook M-1 that serves as a dedicated sand iron and a recovery wedge from wiry greenside rough.

woods: 13, 18, 21, 24º (all full size, no hybrids)
    driving iron: 19º
    irons: 23, 28, 33, 38, 43º (23º iron pulled to observe 14-club limit)
    wedges: 48, 53, 58, dedicated sand iron
    putter.

Just went back to traditional lofts - 48, 52, 56.......I use them from different distances than the 'modern' clubs.

I'm going to try a wide gap wedge setup tomorrow. Set PW (47°), then 52°, 58°, and 64°.

I tried to go to a single 54 degree, benching my 52/58 combo, so I could put another club at the top of the bag. Didn't work. Put the 52/58 back in. My PW is 44 degree. Leaves an 8 degree space between PW and GW. I don't see that gap in distance. Been wanting to take my PW in to my local shop and have the specs checked. It seems to be more on the order of 48 degree as high its trajectory is and the distance I find comfortable with it.
