    You're doing it wrong.

I just let my legs get so white they reflect the sun. It's deadly on the green: I find the sun, aim it off my legs into your eyes as you're putting.

20191125_133241. 20191125_133243 (1). ANOTHER set of PING Eye 2. These are the rare, +no+ model with the square grooves and modified knockdown sole grind. Playable shafts and grips, heads are clean. 3 to SW. Matching serial #s. Gotta polish them and repaint the numbers.

Old Pings never die; they just fade away.

Then they are resurrected with new paint and grips.

Looking back over 2019, probably the least I have spent on golf clubs in decades. I did some driver diving early in the year. Had played a G400 for some of 2018 and hated it. Traded for a couple used Callaway drivers. Didn't realize it, but both had been "worked on" by some amateur club builder. Traded them back for an XR16 and have never looked back. Hitting the driver the best I have in years and won't be searching for anything new. If I do find a used XR16 to keep as a backup, might be tempted.
Won the Bettinardi in a drawing. Was handed a really nice Vokey 56 degree by an acquaintance. "Here! I hate this thing! You either take it or it's going in the dumpster!" Don't know of anything else, except a couple gloves and a couple golf shirts during 2019.
Don't have any plans for 2020. Three sets of irons. A bag of extra hybrids, wedges, putters, etc. sit in the basement. The old golf bag is probably getting close to 10 years old, but all the zippers still work and... other than some fading of the colors... is in excellent shape. Haven't purchased balls or tees in 20 years. Buckets of both in the basement. May have to do some minor work on our golf cart. Most of that I can do myself with little out-of-pocket expense.
    Life is good!!!!

After I went nuts buying drivers last year this year has been pretty slow for me also. Once I got the EXS and Cobra drivers I knew I had two winners. When I stuck in the Creation shafts it turned both into monsters. I bought a cheap $60 Tour Edge putter that's made me so much better. I'll need a new set of irons after this year. Will have to demo some I suppose. I don't know if there's a sandwedge made to fix my misery in bunkers. Otherwise bag is good to go.

Why? Irons last forever. I only change irons when I get tired of the grips on them, or every few weeks, whichever comes first.

I bought these AP1's used and they're pretty worn. And the ho in me needs new irons once in awhile.

I have the original AP2s and the finish is worn off the faces so they will start to rust if I don't keep them clean and dry. I'm so attached to them though, I have no desire for anything different.

...and I wouldn't ever use a groove sharpener unless the club was raw unfinished steel....like an oil can Vokey or something.

Stainless steel irons can get ratty looking over the years, but I don't think you can really "wear them out". Even if the groove edges get a little dull, they still work. Soft, forged irons are another story.

I had Nippon's in my S59 Pings years ago. Best steel shaft I've ever used.

Meh, not really. I've lost 50-60 yds in the last 15 years.
