    79. Pretty solid round. "Fun" time of year to play. When we start our round, the greens are still frozen. If you fly a shot into the green, it will hit and bounce like an asphalt parking lot. By the time we're well into the round, the approaches and greens are thawing and quite soft. Fly anything in and leave it close to the green and it will stick and stay. Takes some innovative playmaking... which is not common in the shot-making ability of a 73 year old hacker!!! But... we're playing golf in February!!!

1st tourney round of the new season. Asshat tour director put the champ flight on black tees (6700 yards) and A, B, C, D flights on blue tees (6300 yards). No provision for Sr. golfers when it was 38° F and lots of forced carries. Lost 4 balls due to going in the shit off the tee, so I shot a 104. ****.

Course back open. 80 today. My back went out over the weekend and wasn't sure if I could even swing a club today. Played pretty well and the back is better than before we teed off. Won $1.25!!!

You need to come to GA and teach me how to shoot in the 80s

    Simple...
Hole #1: Hit ball 7 times... write down a 5.
Hole #2: Hit ball 5 times... write down a 3.
Repeat this new and innovative math through remainder of round.

Cold morning. Wasn't even going to play. My one golf buddy convinced me that at least two of us should preserve our reputation as being unarguably nuts! Beauty of it was, we ended up being not the only ones on the course. When we started, the wind chill was 21 degrees. When we finished our 18 holes... 26. Too many clothes. Hurrying in and out of the cart. No focus at all. 85. My buddy carded a smooth 99. He virtually gave up after about the 5th hole. But... we enjoyed some good conversation and weren't making our wives unhappy by being home.

Didn't think would play today. Forecast was for cold and I thought none of my regular crew would be there. By 10 a.m., the sun was out and it wasn't all that bad. Two of the geezers showed up. Away we went. 38/37 for a three over 75... and not a single birdie. Just lots of pars. Fun day!

I have to ask: is this course at least 1500 yards long?

And I thought my group of geezers were bad at trash talking!!! Buncha idiots on Shot Talk!!! Ain't got an good reason why I put up with it!! But... This winter it's playing right at 5,500 yards. I know. That ain't much longer than the putt-putt courses you folks in the southeast play. Sheesh! You could probably bring just a 9-iron and putter to a 5,500 yard course and beat me!!!!:D:D

I've been scoring in the high 80s and low 90s for the last month. It's been either wet or cold (or both) in Charlotte.
Just arrived at our condo in central Florida yesterday and shot an 82 today. It's amazing how much the temperature matters when one gets old. Playing again tomorrow and hoping to break 80 for the first time in 2020.

It all fell in place yesterday. Golf was ez for a day. I shot an even par 71 in a league match. 12 pars, 3 bogeys, 3 birdies. 14 fairways hit, 4 sand saves. Putting was a combo of luck and soaring confidence. It can't last, but man, was it fun! Our team won 1st place. That was my personal best here in Florida.

Another pretty solid round this morning. 37/39 for a 76. With winter greens, it's difficult to putt well. Had a number of birdie putts that rolled across the edges. Really looking forward to Spring!!!

I got up at 8:00 this morning and it was 1.5° F. out. Also 6 inches of snow from a couple days ago that (for some reason) hadn't melted yet. I hate you guys!

Here's about all we can do up here. This is Lake Poygan. Lake Winnebago (next to it) is much bigger. SIL took me fishing on Winnebago last year. We drove 3 miles out on the ice. If it cracks and opens the local fishing club just puts a "bridge" over it.

Could never understand the sanity of driving a vehicle out on ice... something that is extremely fragile. Wife's cousins in Minnesota have ice houses that are more luxurious than some of the big fifth-wheel campers we see down here. But... when your world is frozen over and the walls on your living room begi to close in... guess that is one way to get out of the house!!!
The cousin on Howard Lake in Minnesota has a neighbor, Jim. Jim had a stroke about 7 years ago and his entire right side is paralyzed. He walks... trudges along... with a brace on the right leg. Plays golf every week in their golf league, playing with just his left hand. And, Rod says he plays pretty good. When the lake freezes over in the winter, Rod pulls Jim's ice house out on the lake. Every morning about 11 a.m., he sees Jim headed out for the ice house. Jim holds the hook in his mouth while baiting it with his left hand. Drops the line through the hole and waits. When a fish bites, Jim begins pulling the line with his left hand. Once the hand gets so high, Jim clamps down on the line with his teeth. He, then, grabs another hold with his left hand and pulls again. Rod says Jim has caught some nice walleye using his left-hand/teeth fishing method. Whether it's golf or ice fishing, Jim won't let anyone tell him he "can't" just because he is handicapped.
