81 yesterday. 83 today. 20 mph sustained wind with gusts to 35 mph. By the time we finished, this morning, the wind beat us so bad it felt like we'd played 36 holes!! Wind was moving putts on the greens.

83 today on a new (to me) course. Damn wind has been blowing over 20 mph (steady) for a few weeks now. I'm a bad wind player.

Back on the course after a week off. Cool, damp morning. Very pleased with my ball striking. Shot game, especially the putter, showed the hiatus. Front 44. Back 40. Too many short putts lipped out or left 1/2" short.

Strong as a horse! Still uncertain what really cause the event of March 9th. The cardiologist believes it did have something to with the heart. I'm not as convinced. Took a few days to get my strength back after being flat on the back for 48 hours. The heart cath was done radially, through the wrist, instead of the groin. They didn't want me lifting anything heavy or playing golf for a week after. Said if the wrist artery blew open, might get messy. Can't even tell, today, where they went in. Wouldn't know they did, if I hadn't watched the thing crawling around in my heart on the screen. Of course, he might have just had some video game pulled up on his phone, for all I know.
I blew off an appointment with my GP, yesterday. No way was I going to sit around in a waiting room full of coughing, sneezing, etc. Still have a follow up with the cardiologist in another couple weeks.
Have tried not to spend every day just sitting in the recliner. Have taken Doofus the Dog for some walks. Tried to get caught up on some odd jobs around the house. The mental aspect of having every body part pretty well scanned, x-ray'd, felt, observed, etc. and most every report saying things look excellent for an old goat is a very positive thing at this age!!!!

Haven't worn eyeglasses since 1998. Wore them my entire life up until then. Thick, "pop bottle" glasses. Enlisted in the military in 1966 and none of the services would take me due to my being legally blind if I lost my glasses. 11 diopters myopia and 4 cylinders astigmatism. In 1998, found an ophthalmologist who would perform a "test" Lasik surgery on my eyes. It was successful and I've never worn eyeglasses since.
As the years have accumulated, I began to need "readers". Have procrastinated going to full eyeglasses, never wanting to return to "yesteryear". But... Last week ordered two pair of glasses. One pair is my "Sunday-go-to-meeting glasses. Higher bifocal line. Great for laptop, book reading, etc. The second pair is my "golf" pair. Larger lenses with smaller bifocal. Sun transition. Non-glare.
Yesterday, the first pair... the Sunday-go-to-meeting pair... arrived. So... played this morning with them. Wow! A difficult challenge trying to keep your head down so the bifocal doesn't interfere. Still, started with a 40 on the front. Fell apart on the back with a 44. When I got back to the truck after the round, the text was their to come pick up the "golf" pair. Have both now.

I'm pretty blind too. I went for a consultation for Lasik but I'm one of the 1 in 4 that is not suitable for this, my cornea is too thin!! Anyway, I have varifocals and for the most part, they work well. But man, golf was the hardest to adapt to. I think I have it sorted now, but yes, it really does force you to keep your head still.

I have a moderate astygmatism, so I have worn single vision yellow tint distance glasses for golf and driving the car for years now. Same in clear for watching TV. Don't need glasses for reading.

Why didn't I get glasses sooner??!!! Wore my "golf glasses" today. These have a much smaller and lower bifocal. They have the light transition so they darken in the sunshine. Best round in a long, long time!!! 73! And, that was with two double bogeys. Four birdies and lots of pars. The biggest difference is in the putting. Seem to be able to see the line better. And... I can actually find my ball in the fairway! 39/34.

Can't post (or humbleBrag) about scores anymore. We're open but with COVID19 protocols. Cups raised, pins untouchable, riding alone in separate carts, small groups, clubhouse limited to 5 people at a time, courses only open to members, restaurants, gyms and bars closed. It's so much easier to glance a putt off a raised cup than to sink one, our scores are stupid low, so obviously we're not posting scores anymore. We're making up fun games, playing from different tee boxes, just trying to have some fun in these depressing times. At least we get to play (for now).
