Fallen off a cliff and can't climb out of the abyss. 85 today. Been in the mid to upper 80's for the past few days. Not making contact with the ball. Not seen the line on putts. Frustration is setting in. Know that these wacky times will hit and will end. Still, difficult to cope with.
Hey! Woke up. Played golf. Granddaughter brought me homemade cookies. Wife baked apple pie. Life is good.

A weekend of two halves. I played on Saturday in brutal conditions. Played 17 into the wind, a 450-yard par 4, hitting two drivers (really well) and a wedge. Played 18, coming back downwind, 470-yard par 4 hitting driver and 8 iron. Yes, that is how strong the wind was. I shot an 84. No-one broke par. The winner shot 35 points from a field of ~170 players. Here is a picture of our rough. BRUTAL.

Then I played last night in benign conditions around our Riverside shooting an even-par 68. 1 birdie, 1 bogey and 16 pars. I had 33 putts too. I hit 15 GIRs, my best ball-striking for some time. My putting wasn't bad, just nothing went in for me. On the 18th, it was playing into a setting sun. I couldn't see my tee-shot, but my son said it was heading right, close to an OB. We went down and looked around, with no joy. Remember, I needed a par to shoot EVEN par. I had all but given up on it, until the other member of our group, shouted over that the was a ball in the left semi, 60 yards from where we were looking. Turned out it was me!! I looked at my son and he gave me that teenage kid shrug thing. I managed to hit the green and give myself a look at birdie. I was happy to take a par. That's my best round since lock-down.

A buddy and I played some practice holes today, skipping around the course. I had a few bogeys and a handful of pars, but I holed out an eagle on a short par 4 from 80 yards with my gap wedge!

Better today. 41/37 for a 78. Did not hit the driver once. All driving holes used my Mini 1.5. Birdied both par 5's on the back.

Going on 2 weeks without touching a club, possible pinched nerve in my back-sciatica. Worst pain I’ve felt in awhile, been laying on the floor mostly. Start PT soon, hoping to get back out this summer

When I was in my 30's I got what is called ankylosing spondylitis. It is a form of arthritis that effects your spine. It inflames (and erodes) the discs between your vertebrae. If there are no discs or areas of eroded discs your vertebrae will grow together which pinches your nerves. At that time the only drug that could "reach" this area and reduce the inflamation was called Indocin. In 1%° of cases this drug affects your hearing by killing all the little hairs in your cochlea. This disease is extremely painful sending pain shooting down your legs. The good thing is it quits by age 50. I beat it by taking indocin and karate (to keep flexible). Always get checked for this before getting surgery.

40/37. Another pretty decent day. Still left lots of strokes out there.

36/37. Finally got my ball striking back, I was pin hunting all day and honestly should have made several putts. At this point, I'll take it, tho.

I think that's six rounds this year.

I herniated a disc about 10 years ago that pinched a nerve. I thought that was the most pain I’d get until this. The pain in my thigh ranges from a dull cramp to the most painful feeling of lightning shooting through my leg. At one point last week it hit while I was in the shower. I had to step out of the shower and lay on the floor for probably 10 minutes before I could dry off and crawl to get to my bed.

Surgery will be my last resort. The worst part of it all is that prior to this I was in better physical shape than I’d been in since HS. I’d dropped 70lbs and was regularly working out and walking the course at least 2 times a week. It’s been a real kick I the nuts, but hey that’s pretty much 2020 right?

Herniated the L4-5, this might be from that or another disc.

Had PT today and therapist thinks I pinched my femoral nerve as the pain in my thigh is on the front not the back. Not even sure wth I did or how you can even pinch that nerve. All I know is that it hurt like a mofo, damn near brought me to tears...I don’t mind admitting it either lol

That’s why I asked Jim. A prolapsed disc at L2-L3 equals radiating pain down the front of the thigh. I had that situation a few years back.

You’re correct when you say it hurts. It regressed me into a four legged crawling creature.
