Different morning. Ended up playing with the "youngsters" who often join us on weekends. So... played from the back tees with them. Heck! They could outdrive me by 50 yards! Of course, we hunted for their balls while I was in the short grass. Beat them all. Had the only two birdies of the day. Carded an 81. The youngsters... they are all in their 40's or early 50's... had 83, 85, and 90.

Married 54 years this past week, so could have kids in their 50's. By the time I figured out what to do... the oldest daughter is 48. So, yes... "kids" in their 40's and 50's are youngsters! Oft times, both son-in-laws act like they are still in First Grade!!!

Putter acted much better this morning. Of course, everything else cooperated. 36/35 for a smooth 71. Two birdies. One eagle. Three bogies. Eagled the #3 handicap hole on the course. Nice drive down the left side, right on the edge of the fairway. Smoothed a 6-iron that sailed toward the hole. Didn't see it land as it is a slightly elevated green. My playing partners said it hit on the green. Got there and couldn't find the ball. Thought it must have gone over the green. We looked high and low and could not find the ball... until one of the guys happened to look in the cup. Fun day........

My irons had been just okay. Some good shots and some not so good. Had a staff meeting... with the voices in my head. I love these iBlades. They have treated me really well. Found myself trying to play like a pro. "Let's fade this one in to the pin". "If I hit a high draw with this one, it'll be perfect." I ain't that good. Told myself... "Just pick your target and hit the durn ball at it." Remembered Pennick's "Take dead aim!" And, I told myself to take one more club and swing easier. Wow! Had one of he best iron days in a long, long time.

Was an okay day. My mom is coming tomorrow to visit from out of town, and I wanted to play but i had to get some yard work done too. I wanted to play in the morning, then come home and mow, but we had the last night of league, so I stayed home this morning and got the yard done. Got to the course to play a bit before league and managed to get in 8 or so holes.... kinda of. I played #1 and #2 then started over on #1. My first tee shot was a slice, and I thought I lost it in the fescue, so i dropped and moved on. When I started over, I found my fist drive and played it. Eneded up making birdie with it ;) so for the next 8 holes I made 2 birdies no bogeys. For league, I started with the same ball. My tee shot started high then dove hard as it snap hooked.... my second shot took of hard to the right, my third shot was a short pitch and it didn't get to the green. After I put for bogey I say the ball was cracked. Changed balls and made 3 birdies to finish 2 under. Was hitting the driver REALLY well, and chipping and putting was great.

35/39 for a 74.l Made it to #15 before having a bogey. Was two under at that time. Bogey on 15. Par 16. Double on 17. Bogey 18. My two under became two over pretty fast. Mental errors on 15 and 18. 17 is in my head and I've had trouble with that hole for the past few days.
