Yesterday was December 9th... in the Midwest. Just heard we had 136 golfers on the course on a beautiful, 70 degree day! Unbelievable how nice the weather has been. Staff hasn't even blown out the irrigation system yet. Should be able to play today and tomorrow before a storm system hits. A trace to 1" of snow predicted Friday night into Saturday. As warm as the ground is, doubt it will even stick. Cooler Saturday through middle of next week, but should still be playing. We may make it to Christmas and still be on the course almost every day.

Back to playing this Saturday after a 2-week Covid lockdown. Can't wait. During lockdown I have procured:
    1. A gorgeous Cleveland Classic Huntington Beach 1 (milled steel Ping style) putter
    2. A set of "minty fresh" Mizuno MP57 irons (they look unhit!!) with Modus 3 shafts. Look stunning but the 6 iron looks like the 8 on my existing set. Lofts could be an issue but I scored them for a very low price. It will make me feel like a Playa!

Cooler this morning. No frost, but 34 degrees when we went off #1. Stiff north wind around 10 mph. Was still 36 and the same wind when we finished our 18. 41/38. Two birds on the back.

Headed out this morning but let common sense prevail. 33 degrees with 23 degree chill factor. Damp north wind at 15 mph. There will be better days. Recliner is pretty comfortable right now.

Due to cold weather and some other commitments, went five.... FIVE days without playing. Back to it this morning. Putts were dropping. Hard fairways had the ball rolling out. Needed to land shots in front of the greens of they would bounce and roll over. Three... THREE birdies! Four bogeys. 73. Unbelievable for the conditions. Bounces were going my way!

I'll be playing twice over the weekend and then I think I'm done for the next 6 weeks. We are going into another "belt and braces" lockdown.

Strong north wind this morning. Gusts to 35 mph. Temps in upper 40's. If you dress for it, wasn't that bad. Fairways and greens pretty soft since it didn't get below freezing last night. Another totally amazing day. Cannot understand how/why the putter is suddenly working. Probably putting better than I have all season. 39/38 for a 77. I'll take that any day, let along in mid-December when it is a blessing to even be playing. Won $1.00 yesterday. $2.00 today. My Social Security for this month as been sufficiently subsidized by my golf buddies!!

This coming Monday and Tuesday we are supposed to be in the upper 50's to low 60's. By Christmas Eve, reality sets in. Lows in the teens and highs in the 20's. Have had an unbelievable run of great golf weather. (You still should just pick up stakes and move down here!!)

What a great day for golf! Frost delay until 10:30. Sunshine and beautiful weather, without a breath of wind. 78 this morning. And... the putter was on the fritz again. Was hitting the ball long and seeing greens in regulation. Just could not putt. Above all, this winter, I need to build some putting consistency before next season!

Well, I got two games over the weekend and that's me now until February. I played well on Saturday, finished +2 for 14 holes, the highlight was a nice birdie on our index #1. And on Sunday, I took on the mighty combination of my youngest (11) and my father in law and they toasted me at the last. Good fun and a good way to finish the year. Roll on February!!

Still playing on December 21st. 80 this morning. Putter still does not want to cooperate. Annual physical tomorrow morning. A couple of the guys are going to meet me at 12:30 and we will try to play. Supposed to be pristine weather. Thursday, the weather goes bonkers. May have a 4-day hiatus, over Christmas, before the weather gives way for some more golf. Not gonna make 250 rounds this year. Should end up in the mid 230's. Not bad for an old codger!!

Another beautiful day for golf. Had my annual physical appointment at 11:00. Was to meet one of my regular guys at 12:30. Knew the course would be packed. He got to the course a little before I did and the clubhouse sent him off the back. I caught him on 13. Played 14 thru 18. I'm one up. Played 1. Groups backed up in front of us. Found a good gap at 5. There was a slow group on 4 and on 6. Played 5. Went back and played 5 again. Continued playing 5 through 9. Turned to 10. Back packed from there on so called it a day. I think that was 13 or 14 holes. All I know for sure is I lost 50 cents!!! The gentleman I was playing with is our 80 year old. As we played 5 the second time, both were on the green with long putts. I three-putted the durn thing and he parred. We're now even on marks. 6 is a long par 4 for us and into the wind. We both hit good drives. I hit a 6-iron at the flag that dropped about 10 feet short on the green. His ball sailed at the green and we thought it went over. After not finding the ball behind the green, I looked in the cup. Eagle! The old coot had holed out! Now he's up a mark. 7 is a 150 yard par 3. Hard left to right wind. My ball is on the back of the green. He drops his within 3 feet of the flag. I get par and he birdies. He went par, eagle, birdie and was up 2 marks... 50 cents! Played even from then on. Still amazing to see how well he plays at 80... even if he takes money out of my pocket!!!
