Ok, back in from my first round. A stunning morning, not a breath of wind, a pure delight for my return to golf. I opened with a birdie (easy game this!) and in fact had two more in the front side to go out +1. Back side was more of a struggle, two doubles, including a lost ball, to finish with a 74 (+6). But I’m very happy with that. Chipping and putting were pretty good. Just a few loose tee shots and approach play. My playing partner was +10 and we got round in ~3 hours. It would have been quicker but we had to wait for the greens staff to cut the greens on several holes.

It’s good to be back!! Playing again on Monday.

More wind! 15 mph sustained with gusts up to 30 mph. I really wish the norther tier of states... Wisconsin, etc... didn't suck so much and cause all these high winds we have been dealing with! :>) Played as well as I could, considering the wind. 77. My partners were no help at all. They had an 84 and an 89. The three we were competing against "brother-in-lawed" where if one had a bad hole another picked them up on that hole. Lost 75 cents!!!

Your retirement fund took a hit !!

    Back to the range
did some wedge work. Yesterday I had way to many short wedge shots on the course, the kind that don’t make it on the green.....lol.

We geezers have to have a short game to compete. That's where we can give the poor souls still working... and playing no more than once/week... heartburn. Short game strategy, if you watched our group, is a mixed bag. One of the best chippers from 30 yards in always uses his 6-iron. Another, his 7-iron. One has a chipper and he always uses that. A couple of us do use our wedges.
As the great Yogi Berra said, 98% of the putts left short never go in the hole! Likewise with wedges. Chunked wedges left short or bladed wedges sent across a green are difficult to recover from.
I swore this season I would not use a wedge to chip with. I would work until consistent with a less lofted club. But... old habits are hard to break and, if the wedges performed as the did yesterday, I'll just stick with what I have confidence in.

I have witnessed this Geezer game you speak of !
I’m nearly 64, so maybe I’m at the cusp of being a geezah.
One of my goals by summer is to be able to play in a Thursday Seniors league lol. It’s on a fairly difficult course to boot.

fwiw, I realized last night , I flip my wrist up at the top of a backswing. ( not close wedge stuff)
A little indoor practice keeping the wrist flat , indicates that’s going to be another body part that will hurt like hades.

I chip with my gap wedge. No other clubs so I learn and am more consistent with the distance. If you ever want to see someone chip consistently for tap ins sssmokin has perfected that.

That honed geezer short game, of which I spoke, went on vacation today... without asking me first!!! First day in quite a while with no wind. PERFECT weather conditions. I could not chip or putt. Missed three birdie putts I should have made. Most other holes, the pin was in a different zip code than where I was putting from !! I hate golf!!!

41 and 43 today. Driver was long and down the middle all day. Putter was deadly. Irons would be heading for a time out if I had another set.

Last couple days have been bad. 84 i think today. I don't want to make excuses, but my back was sore, and I think it's arthritis in my hands, they just hurt. Maybe I'm trying to "make it happen" instead of swinging the club. or, maybe because its been 15 mph winds, and we are trying to HIT the ball not swing the club, and trying to make it go, instead of more club and swing in control. This is a stupid game anyhow. I should just take two weeks off, then quit. But, you and I both know, my next round will be mid 70s and I'll enjoy it. I got dont with my round today and saw smokkin going out... I saw his new clubs...... Purty!

Thank goodness, my short game "flu" was just a 24-hour bug. Short game back today. 75. Won $1,00!!

Told the guys I would be late this morning. Tee time is 8:00. Wife wanted me to go to Easter Sunrise Service at the church. The service time was 7:00. Pastor droned on and on. Was a short service, though, and I pulled out of the church parking lot at 7:47. Was parking in the golf course lot at 7:52. (I, just maybe, didn't pay attention to the speed limit between church and course!) Loaded clubs. Changed shoes. Met the guys on #1 tee box and away we went. Parred #1 and it was a good start to the day.

40 and 40 for 80 yesterday. 41 and 36 for 77 today. Putting out of my mind. 2 birds, 2 bogeys and 5 pars on the back. Hit my awesome TM Sim 270 straight down the middle on hole 6. Was laying on the side of the uphill raised green, 10 yards from the green.

43 and 37 (two birds on back) for 80. Yesterday had to quit early to go to Emergency. Couldn't get my breath. Nothing serious, just my sarcoidosis acting up. Gave me some good meds and sent me on my way.

    A 110 ! Haha
First score-able round since returning to the game of flogging o_O

also I just now killed a Spider in only two strokes, so that’s an improvement.
