Sounds like you're not getting your right shoulder through the shot AG

Yeah, I don't know what I'm doing. I think I need professional help. Either a shrink or a PGA Pro.

I hit those low smothered hooks when I start the swing from the top and not the bottom.

I tend to get a little mechanical and start the down swing with my arms instead of with my legs.

Had a lesson today because that was typical of me to hook it as well. For the right handed player try rotating your right wrist to the left when you grip it. Go ultra weak with it and exaggerate it. You'll start hitting big slices but then it's easier to adjust from there. Helped me out a lot but just a suggestion.

Playing the very worst golf, right now, that I've played in four or five years. Last Saturday and today... 93/91. And, it felt much worse than those scores!!! Simply cannot make a putt. Better, today, with the shanks... but still hitting irons too close to the hosel.
This is our Greens Superintendent's second year. He and his crew work their tails off. We've seen so many positive changes. The greens, this Spring, are immaculate! Never have we seen our greens so perfect... and so fast. One almost has to relearn their short game. Chips that used to check and roll a couple feet will roll off the green.
If there was a bright spot, today, it was the driver. Took the G20 out and hit it quite well. Been fighting the rights with the R1. Have to be cautious of this G20 going left. Didn't have opportunity to even hit it before going to the first tee. Asst. Pro was giving us heck, while watching us go off as the first group. I was first up and had no idea where this driver would go. Swung easy and the ball just took off in this nice draw around the bend on #1. The Pro hollered, "Wow! You pulled that one out of your a**!"
Need to refocus. Just not in the "right mind" to do so! Supposed to be severe storms all day tomorrow. Would be the fourth Sunday in a row we can't play due to weather or a tournament. Hopefully, next weekend.......

Went to Palm Springs CA today and played at Cimarron. It's a links style course. Shot an 80 but consider it one of my best rounds. It was really windy with gust clocked at 50 mph. Yes 50 mph no joke. Had drives that were 180 yards against the wind and some that were near 350 with a tailwind. Used a 4 iron on a 150 yard par 3 and a 7 iron on a 215 yard par 3 when we changed directions. Very interesting and challenging day in the desert.

we've all felt your pain buddy. Stick with it and those shanks will eventually vanish.
