The real question is how many golf balls are you going to lose? I would easily be into a second dozen if not a third.

I think those numbers are absolutely true if you go at it like your normal game. I think there's a real possibility that you can score better than that if you play it like a par 90.
It'd be interesting to see the outcome if an average golfer played nothing greater than 5 iron around the course.

I'd put money on myself to shoot better than 83. I'd make a few pars and perhaps a bird or two. It would be avoiding the sucker shots and running up 7s and 8s. I'd need a good caddie and a hot flatstick.

OK, let's take a look at this hole by hole.

Let's start with the par 3's.
#3 - 177 yards - Have to carry the water so play it like a normal long par 3 and try for a par or bogey.
#8 - 237 yards - There's water short right, maybe play just short of it and wedge up and take a bogey.
#13 - 181 yards - Water all the way on the left, play it like #3.
#17 - 137 yards - This hole is head game deluxe. Play for the fat part of the green, take your 3 putt and walk away with a bogey.

Total - 16

Front 9 par 4's. I would just work backwards from 100 yards out whenever possible.
#1 - 423 yards - I would play short of the water and play my 2nd just past the water, wedge up, 2 putt.
#4 - 384 yards - This one is going to take a good drive to clear the carry and water. I'd plat driver and then whatever for a chance at par/bogey.
#5 - 471 yards - Whatever it took to reach the fairway then whatever it took to get just short of the bunker complex. Wedge on and a 2 putt for an improbable bogey. More likely a double.
#6 - 391 yards - That's a tough drive but if you find grass the green is gettable. Let's call it a bogey.
#7 - 442 yards - Again a tough drive. Just reach the fairway, 2nd shot to the left of the long bunker, wedge it on, 2 putt.

Total - 26

Front 9 par 5's
#2 - 532 yards - Whatever it took to reach the fairways then whatever it took to reach 100 out, 2 putt. Maybe a par but let's call it a bogey
#9 - 583 yards - A true 4 shot hole. Just reach the fairway, just short of the water, get to 100, and wedge it up. Bogey

Back 9 par 4's.
#10 - 424 yards - Another tough drive. Just find grass then just short of the cross bunker, wedge it on. Let's call it a double.
#12 - 358 yards - Play it normal, miss the green, chip it on, and walk away with a 2 putt bogey.
#14 - 481 yards - Not sure I could reach the fairway. let's say the bunker short of the fairway. Advance it about 150, just short of the green, wedge it on, and a 2 putt for another double.
#15 - 449 yards - Reach the fairway, 2nd one just over that large bunker, wedge it on, 2 putt. Bogey
#18 - 462 yards - Driver, hybrid, short iron, chip, 2 putt for another double.

Total - 28

Back 9 par 5's.
#11 - 558 yards - Probably in that big bunker, advance it 150, just short of the water, wedge it on, 2 putt for a bogey.
#16 - 523 yards - Another tough drive (I'm sensing a pattern). Just find grass, 2nd short of the water, 3rd short of the bunker on the left, wedge it on, 2 putt for a bogey.

Total - 10

Lets add a penalty stroke for every 3 holes for 6 strokes.

Total for round - 98

Beers on me!
