sssmokin and I played outstanding today. I just "nipped" him, 79 to 80 on the Bridges and Westwood nines at Waushara. We both were hitting the driver really well (long and straight). I had one over 275 yards (using sssmokin's GPS) and two yards more would have gone in a pond. It was a slight dogleg right and it was straight! We both hit perfect 230 yard 3-woods on the dogleg right #2 on Westwood. Perfect weather. Only problem was there were some groups out on one of the busiest days of the year on the course LEARNING how to play. What club do I hit? (I was tempted to say "pick any one you want, it won't really matter at your skill level" but I didn't).. :D Two of these groups let us play through so it wasn't all bad. :)

You guys both are golfing well. Congrats. The drivers and irons are working well for the bros. Wish I could have made it a threesome. Sometime we got to to "just do it". Let's see, it will be a couple of 60 Y.O. gents and a 55 Y.O. duffer. Geritol anyone??? For those under 30 just ignore last comment.

shot even par 71 today. 12/14 Fairways. 17/18 Greens. 35 putts. 1 3 jack. missed a 3 footer for birdie. missed about 7 birdie putts inside of 15 ft. Another day with a bunch of missed oportunities. Driver was decent. Irons were great. Worst putting performance in the last two weeks.

Played a course I haven't played for 2 years. CASTLE ROCK in Mauston, Wisconsin. From tips it is 6,167 yards, 70.2 rating, and 125 slope. Par 71. Have not broke 85 there in 8 to ten tries. Short but tight fairways.

Shot a 1 under 70.:beach3:

GIR 12
Fairways 14
Putts 29
Bogeys 2
Birds 3
Pars 13
One over on front side. I bogeyed a par 3 when I pulled the wrong club. 10 yards over the green. Figured 201 rather than 185. My bad.

Three birds on back nine. 1st one on a par 3 160 yards. Yes I pulled the right club (7i) for a kick in one putt. Nice sand save on par 4 16th. 17th a par 3 bird. Sand again. Hole high shorted sided 10 yard to pin with hard left to right slope. Hit a 60* wedge flared open with low spin. Ball landed 1 foot short and 8" high of hole then just trickled in the cup.

18th hole is a par 5 which I was short of green by 25 yards in two. Pitched/chipped for a kick in bird. Nice finish.

Played the front 9 with Ping G2 driver. Back nine with a R7 425 TP. Both clubs were equal for fairways hit. G2 launched on 300+ figuring the roll on a very baked hard fairway. Just little 1/2 wedge in to the 349 yard par 4. Is that a pitch or chip? I never know. The R7 has a little more boring trajectory. Both will compete for a spot in my bag.

Could have gone lower. Must have missed 80% of my first putts 3 inches on the right. Speed good therefore NO three putts. That will be my next project correcting the putter stroke.

Have been playing in the zone lately. Hope the zone continues but I keep looking over my shoulder. Stay behind me SATAN!!!!:beach3:

No great shakes today, 46 so 10 over. haven't played in a week & was a bit rusty but it started coming around. 2 shots I am rather proud of happened today though so humor me while I describe them.

5th hole & I slice the damn drive over into the middle of the 6th fairway. It's a short par 4 measuring 320 something. Anyways I know have 92 yds to the green but there is a group of 30' trees directly between me & the green. I figure what the hell, let's try & go over them. Put the ball way back in my stance so it's almost even with my right foot, use my gap wedge & got under the ball pefectly. The ball sails up & clears the trees, & them drops right on the green about 10' from the pin for my 1 & only GIR of the day. Missed the birdie but still damn tickled with that shot since it went exactly as I planned.

2nd shot that tickled me was the 7th hole, it's a dogleg right & you need about 160 yds to clear the corner so you can see the green. I have been using 5 iron lately but if I hit it straight it goes a bit too far & runs off the fairway. So I decided to use 6 iron & try to fade the ball a bit which is something new I have been working with. Holy crap another shot that went as planned except it actually went a lot further than I had hoped for. Nice little fade, sweet bounce & some damn nice roll ended up netting me 207 yds with a frickin 6 iron!!

Overall the rd wasn't all that good, but to have 2 rather tough shots that went just as I planned them has me feeling like Tiger....well except for the screwed up knee:prop:

BTW, had to wait for the 2some in front of me who for some reason thought they needed to wait for the green to clear before they hit their 290+ yd approach shots after their 190 yd drives.

Anyways while waiting I poked around near the edges of the treelines & came away with 10 balls. Only 2 were decent though, Titleist NXT extreme & a Callaway HX Tour. The rest were your typical Topflite XL crap, Pinnacle, etc.

nothing special here played a little tougher course today and shot 95.1 bird and 3 pars.i believe part of this is do to me being a dumba** and not paying attention to my grip.

when i hit my best and straightest shots both of the V`s point to my left shoulder.have been playing with alot of guys and noticing there right hand V points to there right shoulder or just outside of it.noticed on the 12th hole today that my grip was similar to theres so i changed it and hit some of my best shots and my biggest drive of the day.

so to some it up a simple brain fart and lack of attention caused me to start slicing again and was busy messing with swing path instead of just simply looking at my grip.

it was raining lightly here this morning when we got there (go figure, it's washington) and we almost called it off, glad we didn't. On the front 9 i shot 54 (my best by 6 strokes) with 22 putts (i've had 17 putts on the same 9 before). On the back 9 I shot 57 and had even more putts. I think I 2 putted once on that, terrible. Still a 111 is far and away my best, so I'm definitely improving, which is nice.

I really need to work on my chipping and putting from around flagstick distance. While we were waiting on our 3rd player to show up, I messed around on the putting green for probably 20 to 30 minutes, but I was doing long putts and I should've been focusing on the ones that are around 10 feet =\

Last note, I absolutely love these Bridgestone e6's. A couple rounds back I got a e6 and the higher end ball (I believe it's called a S330 or B330) and I played better with the e6, so I bought a sleeve yesterday and today was the first time I didn't lose a ball, plus on the chipping green I chipped one in, first time I've ever done that. In all, it was a great day of golf =]

Overall i was hitting it very solid. :)

Shot a 114, pretty bad. Had 42 putts but only 19 on the back 9. I couldn't hit any greens but once I was close my chipping was pretty good, I had several one puts after chipping well.

I really think I need a high lofted wedge. All my close shot were with my 45 degree PW or 54 degree SW and I don't like the bounce on the SW.

My real problem is of the tee. Once I'm 200 and in I play close to regulation but I'm often hitting my second shot out of the rough 20-50 yards in front of the ladies tees, or punching out of the woods. Out of 4 par 3s I got par on 3 and bogey on 1. Should have had a birdie but lipped it. To contrast my bet score on a par 5 was double bogey.

an 85, not too bad, but how frustrating: 7/14 fairways, 6/18 greens, 38 putts.

I made the mistake of using a different (much lighter) putter, and never could get the feel for it. Going back to the Yes! Tracy starting now.

119 yesterday.

Nothing wonderful, but a marked improvement in:
-Ball-striking in general
-Driver :thumbs up:
-3 wood off the deck (never really managed this shot before)

What killed me was mostly:
-putts from say 4 to 10 feet
-course management. (On 3 occasions the decision to lay up was followed by the shot of my life with the chosen club, sending the ball dancing merrily into the hazard that I was trying to manage. :unhappy: )
