just a question, do guys ever light a fire and cook/braai your meat on the coles?? i always here about grilling this and grilling that, but never wood fire (braai in SA)...??

Coals...not coles...lol, but yes I cook like that whenever I'm camping. However, it takes too long to light a wood fire and let it burn down to coals just to make dinner.
That's why I use hardwood lump charcoal. Same great flavor, LOTS less time and effort.

wood fire is the best way to do it, light the fire, sit back and chill with a cold one or 6.....
If I laid out meat on a grill that low, I'd have 3 dogs with scorched mouths and I'd have no dinner.

I'm not saying you're wrong...I'm just saying I don't have that kind of time. Plus, technically, I'm cooking over a real wood fire...its' real wood charcoal. Just someone else has done the work of turning it into the coals.

I respect the guy...I wouldn't use anything less than a Glock. Save the high points for the Canadians.
