just a question, do guys ever light a fire and cook/braai your meat on the coles?? i always here about grilling this and grilling that, but never wood fire (braai in SA)...??

Coals...not coles...lol, but yes I cook like that whenever I'm camping. However, it takes too long to light a wood fire and let it burn down to coals just to make dinner.

That's why I use hardwood lump charcoal. Same great flavor, LOTS less time and effort.

my bad, english is my 2nd language....lol.....

wood fire is the best way to do it, light the fire, sit back and chill with a cold one or 6.....:D

I'm not saying you're wrong...I'm just saying I don't have that kind of time. Plus, technically, I'm cooking over a real wood fire...its' real wood charcoal. Just someone else has done the work of turning it into the coals.

agree - one does need time to the wood fire properly.

in SA we actually have a national braai day....:D
