I hate this game!

lamebums, maybe you're just thinking about it too much.

Try pulling your club, address the ball, and hit...no practice swing, no thoughts, just hit it and move on. Do not think about how far (you did this when you chose your club), ball flight (decided as you approached), etc...just hit it.

I knew I shouldn't have opened my mouth. Played like total crap today. Every drive was big draw, borderline hook, every iron shot was fat, chipping and pitching flippy and every putt was way, way too hard. I started out OK with bogey, par, par then couldn't find a tee shot, must have been plugged and it was downhill from there. I have no clue what was going on, felt like the same swings but not good results at all. My short game needs some serious help. I stopped keeping score but shot 51 on the front (par 37) with 20 putts. The only excuse I could use is the course was so soaked that tee shots were getting lost, plugged below the surface and greens were soaked.

Psh..who taught you how to play golf...everyone knows the ball has a mind of its own and we have no control over it...

Get mad at the ball, not yourself. Hit the damn thing! Send it down the fairway! Whack the everlovin' snot out of it.

Somethimes when I try to swing too smooth, I don't swing at all...

Dude, I'm in the same boat as you were when you wrote this. I made 5 straight doubles to start today and shot +15 on the front. I hit the second fw with only 115 left in uphill and still managed to make a 6. Half my shots are big blocks and the other half big hooks. Thankfully the weather is going to get real crappy, I don't even want to see a golf club for at least 2 weeks. My swing is $hit, it doesn't work. I have no idea what to do at this point, lessons haven't helped one bit my swing is still way past parallel and it feels like I'm swinging 3/4. I'm going to start all over and hit nothing but irons, 3iron will now be my 150 club and 100 will be an 8iron.

So yesterday I went out and played, and played the first seven holes in three over. (I got a 20 on the next hole but that's irrelevant. :laugh

For some reason I found it back after two successive days of just completely hacking it up? I don't get it.:dead:

It became an ESC 7 in the clubhouse. It was a short par 4 at 296 yards which I've driven before. Colder that day but I had a tail wind, so I figure I had it in my bag if I swung hard enough. Duck-hooked two into the woods, then sliced the hell out of another, duck hooked another, sliced another...you get the idea. Eventually I got one into play (I didn't care after I realized ESC would come into play) but I was playing army golf, really.

He did, he tried to drive the green like 6 times on a tight hole. Can't say I blame you Lamebums. I stopped my bleeding today with a drive over trees on to the ledge of a par 5 fwy. that barely drew a yard to stay in. Should have at least birdied it but pars were like birds to me today. Lots of work to be done.

Well 6 balls OB off the tee would only get him to 11, which still leaves another 9 strokes, say 1 miss green, 1 onto green and 3putts, thats still only 5 shots....

how'd he get the entire 20?

Actually I believe after 5 shots OB the 6th would be 13 off the tee... I'd have quit before that though, I don't carry that many balls in my bag.

20 is a wild guess. You can ask my dad - I was playing with him the other day. Maybe he knows how many balls I lost. I was just standing up there, playing Machine Gun Murphy with a driver and a lot of crappy balls... (He started tossing me his shags and scuffs when I began putting them in the woods)

(I get my balls for $15 per crate - each crate has 24 dozen. So meh, I can afford to lose a few.)

If anyone's ever in Kentucky or just passing through maybe I can hook you up with some cheap (and decent) balls. Not much in Titleists, but Pinnacle, Slazenger, Top Flite, etc...
