Interesting shaft wiggle on Ping Driver

One of my buddies and I noticed the same thing with the Ping G425 stock Alta CB 55 Slate R shaft. He was demoing one and the shaft seemed really whippy. I have a G400 with the stock Alta CB 55 R shaft and it's not as flexible. He spent the rest of the round playing my driver instead of the G425...

    what did you shoot today?

A tale of two days. I shot 76 yesterday. Everything went right. Today was ten shots higher and nothing went my way. Golf is a crazy game but I love it. I'm anxious to get out there tomorrow and see which guy shows up to play.

    What did you buy today?

I bought a set of Callaway Mavrik Max irons three weeks ago. My ball striking wasn't great over the Winter and I decided I needed more forgiveness. It has been quite a change from the Mizuno JPX 850 forged I've been playing. The jury is still out. They are forgiving, but they really feel...

    Going graphite

I took the graphite shafted Mizunos to Florida for my vacation. I played four days in a row and just couldn't get comfortable with them. I think they were just too light. I went to the local Dick's Sporting Goods and traded them for a set with steel shafts. I played the next day and hit the new...

    Going graphite

UPDATE: I contacted Mizuno and the TT Project X LZ graphite 4.5 shafts are regular flex. Which is confusing because 4.5 in steel is senior flex. Mizuno doesn't use this shaft anymore and it looks like True Temper has discontinued it as well. I think the problem is they're probably too light...

    Going graphite

    Yep. I love to tinker.

    Going graphite

Well my graphite experiment failed. I got a set with the wrong shafts. The online description said "regular". The shafts have an "R", but they are 4.5 which I've learned are senior flex. Anyway, the plan now is to do a fitting with my pro. That's probably what I should have done in the first...

    The AT&T at Pebble Beach

I agree. I've never played there, but I know most of the holes from watching on TV all these years. The picture they always show of six, seven and eight is breathtaking and seventeen and eighteen are iconic. Also, like you I think Bill Murray has had his day. He's just not funny anymore...

    The AT&T at Pebble Beach

I watched most of the final round yesterday and it was very entertaining. The win was literally up for grabs until the final putt. I did feel sorry for Nate Lashley. He was playing well and had a wreck on the 16th hole. My question for the forum is why do you think so many of the top ranked...

    Ping Peeps

I don't there an issue either unless you are currently playing clubs with stronger lofts.

    Going graphite

I found a set on a pre-owned site and pulled the trigger. I'd been playing Mizuno JPX 850 forged with steel shafts. I just bought a set of JPX 900s with graphite. I've only played four rounds with them and the weather hasn't been very good, but I've noticed a difference in my level of pain after...

    Ping Peeps

This may have been mentioned before as I neglected to scroll through all 38 pages. I think the biggest issue with Ping Eye2s is that the lofts are much weaker than today's offerings. For instance the PW is 50*. Most PWs today are 46" or even stronger. I think I'm correct in that the Eye2s were...

    what did you shoot today?

Played last Wednesday 2/10. Our golf course was saturated so we played a shorter set of tees (6000 vs 6250). I shot 84. That's not great, but I shot 40 on our back nine which is by far more difficult that our front nine. The good news is I may have found something that has improved my ball...

    what did you shoot today?

When I win big (more than $2) I stop on the way home and buy Roman Meal bread.

    what did you shoot today?

You can tell a true golfer by how hard they will fight for $.50 or $1.00.

    what did you shoot today?

I played better yesterday. I have new (to me) irons and went back to the ProV1. I shot 83 with one birdie and two double bogies. It's been in the high 40s and low 50s for a couple of weeks here in Charlotte. I cannot wait until warmer weather returns. Playing in cold wet conditions makes it...

    Going graphite

I'm thinking the same thing. I'm 71 and while I love steel in my irons, graphite would probably be better on my joints too.

    what did you shoot today?

I had a terrible day yesterday. Shot 91 with only four pars, eight bogies and six doubles. I cannot blame the weather as it was in the low 50s with very little wind and the fairways were fairly dry. It was my worse round in ten months. I'll be back at it next Wednesday and really hope to bounce...

    Golf Equipment Idiosyncrasies

Hah! So far I haven't changed the setting on my Ping G400 driver because it moves the Golfpride logo on the grip off center. When I had a Callaway driver the grip didn't rotate so I changed it quite frequently too.

    Nothing feels like a 'Zuno!

I play the JPX 850 forged and they are a couple of degrees weaker than the newer models. When I was younger, I used to care if my buddy was playing an eight iron while I was playing a seven but not anymore. I love how these clubs feel and as long as I know how far each clubs goes I'm fine. At...
