Motorcycles, who's got em or had em

First bike was a 1973 Yamaha RD 350. Second bike a 1948 Harley Panhead hardtail. that had a springer front end. Original hand shift (1 through 4) and foot clutch. converted to vise versa. You could shift from 1st to fourth without going through 2nd or third. With all that torque 2nd and third...

    The Great Gun Debate

Yo WiGolfer....Glad to see your are still fearless in speaking your mind clearly. ;) I would like to relate a story. Today I met with our County Extension Agent. The conversation revealed he has an adapted son ( now18 y.o.) with Asperger's syndrome. Yep the same as the Connecticut school...

    The Great Gun Debate

Dogfish.....Thanks for the interesting comment. That's what Zaphod was looking for. Discussion, musing amongst a round table of robust opinion.

    The Great Gun Debate

dogfish...ZAPHOD has been here awhile. WarbirdLover, Sssmokin, Mike1243 (Jake), WiGolfer, ETC formed the first three Wisconsin SHOTTALK OPENS. ZAPHOD lurks in central Wisconsin 20 miles north of Wisconsin Dells. Zaphods presumes Milwaukee/Racine has survived the exodus of WBL (JERRY). I have...

    The Great Gun Debate

Wow-----Zaphod has not visited this site in quite a while.....The gun debate still rages....Twilight zone...Time stands still. Anyway Zaphod's $.02. The most precious thing for Zaphod is personal liberty. Zaphod is quite fortunate to be created and reside within a country in which Zaphod's...

Played on Jan 7th in New York

played a round per day the last three days. That's pretty crazy for Wisconsin. BTW-the swing was surprising intact. I guess I'm going to close out the season feeling good:)

    CCW for Wisconsin?

From what the Milwaukee Sentinel published today the DNR's hunter safety course will suffice for training. I've taken the course voluntarily. Grandfather clause exempted me but I figured "why not?". Overall a pretty good course.

    CCW for Wisconsin?

The people I think need the training are the ones with NO experience with firearms but are not willing to do the time and effort in learning proper firearm control. I've seen way too many people pointing a barrel of a gun in inappropriate direction. Prime example is someone unloading a lever...

    CCW for Wisconsin?

I can live with the way the CC law went down. The initial version with no permitting and training was not my cup of tea. Hunter safety courses are also IMO good. A attempt at getting the public trained with gun safety is a good thing. Avid shooters will find the course redundant but perhaps...

    My break away from golf

Where is the TV antenna??? Football season does not pause for deer hunting!!!! We've got wolves, coyote, and black bear here too. I've been shooting, pine squirrels, 13 striped gophers, and raccoons lately. I just step onto the patio and nail those pests Nice looking blind. Paint?????

    Zaphod Goes OLD SCHOOL

Agreed on the older ball. At 5 dollars a pop for vintage balls I need to get a bit more serious. Not only tightens the game but course management is now very much in play. .

    Zaphod Goes OLD SCHOOL

If ejdahl2 hit that ball all the rubber bands are snapped. The guy is an animal with the driver. Titleist or Achusnet (as they were named in the day) made FINE wound balls. They were VERY cut susceptible. Hit em a bit thin and you had a smile carved into the covering. They would wobble like hell...

    Zaphod Goes OLD SCHOOL

The other "work around" is practice with these clubs is a bit more difficult. Those rock hard range balls will destroy the wood heads. The softer the ball's outer cover the better. ProV1 and the Bridgestone R (something) ball is recommended. I will have to pick slow times on the course to get...

    Zaphod Goes OLD SCHOOL

Thanks Mike----the time machine---they are making one at Michigan Tech aren't they? SUX----Agreed this is pushing the levels of GEEKDOM. What The Hell, the club ho virus has mutated. Lyle---I gotta be careful with WBL. He already has cloned himself as smokinn' . No telling what that dude...

    Zaphod Goes OLD SCHOOL

More clubs pictures. Notice the grips. Included is a picture of one club with a functional leather grip. The rest of the clubs grips were slick with age and very thin. So I put on temporary grips. A few with the soft half of velco strips and the others with cloth medical tape. Later this winter...

    Zaphod Goes OLD SCHOOL

Took my new (old) clubs out for their first round today. Shot an 40. 5 bogeys, 3 pars and a :beach3: birdie. These hickory shafted clubs are kinda fun to play with. All put together via ebay. Requires a smooth swing. The more you force em the more they go off line. Feels somewhere between a...

    NFL draft rapidly approaching!!!

I expect the Pack to be a top tier time for a while. McCarthey is a even keeled coach and Ted Thompson has been acquiring players mainly through the draft with very few forays into free agency. Sir Charles Woodson and Ryan Pickett come to mind. Mainly in house growth. Team to watch out for...

    Potato planting

Potato harvesters and windrowers are similar to sugar beat harvesters---Same concept---separate tons of dirt from tons of food. I've been busy getting our corn planters ready. We are the beta testers for the new GPS driven guidance system on the planters. It's been a struggle getting the...
