I use 12* drivers. I need the ball in the air as long as possible. It sucks when the ground is wet tho. One factoid to consider - the more loft there is on a club, the less side-spin can be imparted on the ball.I subscribe to the loft up camp as well.
dibs................My next driver will be 27°. I'll crush it.
Older... I think we all hope we continue getting 'older'. As they say, the alternative............Fixed it for ya!
If every article I ever read about adding 10 yards to my drives in Golf and Golf Digest magazines worked I should be hitting the ball much farther then 750 yards by now.If I bought every driver over the years that claimed "15 yards longer" I'd be driving the ball 750 yards by now.
I have a friend that hit's sky bombs 300 yards and plays a low loft like 8°. How you swing makes alot of difference in what loft you choose. I used to play 9° and hit it high but since I'm now hitting the ball down on top of it's head I've had to go up in loft.I play an 8.5, but I hit the ball, high, so I need the low loft to keep it down
You need a new driver..............................I have a friend that hit's sky bombs 300 yards and plays a low loft like 8°. How you swing makes alot of difference in what loft you choose. Today's adjustable drivers make it so much more interesting. I have worn the threads off the screw that attaches my driver to the shaft!!! Good weather, I'll move it to +2 degrees... 12.5. Frozen fairways... -1... 9.5 degrees. When I'm hitting the ball well, the 45 1/2" shaft at the standard 10.5 or at +1... 11.5. Most of the time, though, with the 44" shaft and at +2... 12.5. And... with my awkward swing... probably doesn't make one bit of difference, but it gives me something to cogitate in a feeble mind!I just turned 70 and my ss is diminishing. I recently went from a 10.5* driver to a 12* and picked up a few yards. We're playing on cold wet fairways here in Charlotte. I'm hoping for more yards when Spring arrives. I suggest the OP try to find an 11.5 or 12 demo and see what happens.
