They just said that no Canadian has won the Canadian Open since the 1950s. WHAT!
Yep! Pat Fletcher in 1954 was the last Canadian to win that tourney. Up there in the cold north, neighbors to our friends in Wisconsin, Minnesota, etc. they only play golf about 10 days/year due to the snow, cold, frozen tundra... and how do you explain golf to those folks who talk funny!!!!

The Washington Women's Amateur winner is only 14 years old.

Oh, and by the way she won it last year, too. She's only the 3rd person to ever repeat at the WA Am in its entire history... and she did it at ages 13 and 14. Wow!

Annual pilgrimage to Iowa this past week. Three couples from here in KS meet two couples from Minnesota. It's about halfway for both. Guys play golf. Girls shop and gossip.

Woke up Monday with an excruciating toothache. Relatives due to arrive at any time to head north, so hoped it would get better. It didn't. Haven't slept a night through all week. Didn't want to start anything with a dentist up there, so suffered through. Will hope to get in to one here on Monday.

Between toothache and the Minnesota cousin who sorta sets up the golf, played some of the worst golf in ages. Five guys... 1. BIL I've talked about. Hasn't played much golf. Get in front of him and it may be the last thing you do when he rifles a worm burner into the back of your head. Spent most of the rounds waiting for him to his his 6th shot on par threes and wasn't close to the green. 2. Neat MN cousin, but plays once/year... here. Hit it a mile when he makes contact... which isn't often. 3. Other BIL from here. Pretty good stick. Stone mason by trade. Arms like a muscle builder. Can get a tad wild off the tee. 4. The other MN cousin. Millionaire and want's everyone to know how much he has, where their next cruise will be, what their home on the lake is worth on today's market, etc. He sets up the courses and tee times. Wants to play from the tips!!! I tried to talk him into moving up where the tees were more appropriate for the skill levels. Wasn't having it. "We pay for 18 holes and we're gonna play the entire course!"
Well, they were long rounds and I played terrible. Too much trying to hurry them along, find their balls, etc. Oh! The four are consuming significant beer throughout the round. I'm usually the designated driver back to the hotel.

Friday were to play a 9 hole course in the morning and another in the afternoon. Rain set it. Cancelled the morning round and drove to the second course. Got there about 11:00. Just a girl in the clubhouse. Hung out and she made hamburgers for us. A few more beers were consumed. Finally, with a light drizzle and a cold north wind, it was decided we would go play. No windshields on the carts. All of us had worn shorts, thinking we would have typical July weather. Froze my butt off!!! Got back to the hotel and spent a half hour in a hot shower, just to get thawed out!

We did eat at some good restaurants in the evenings. The wife had fun with the "girls". Life is good..... :<(

At your age, don't they basically just fall out? 😁
I can guarantee you they don't just "fall out"!! Was never smart enough to have wisdom teeth! Missing 3, now, on the bottom. Total upper plate. Had the front 6 uppers pulled in 1981. Wore a partial plate until 2010 when the remainder of the uppers came out. Full plate there, now. 2010 one of the upper molars broke off in the bone. Dentist had to chip it out. Got into the sinus cavity. For a couple days, every time I tilted my head down, blood would run out my nose. The old partial did a good job. Couldn't have done it, though, without Super Glue Gel. Probably had 4 or 5 teeth fall out of it. Super Glued them back in and away we went.

This was the prediction for the week, starting Sunday. Now, both local tv stations are saying triple digits will continue through most of next week. Late start, yesterday. "Maintenance Monday" so 10:00 tee time. Three of us played all 18 due to a nice breeze. Back to 7:00 a.m. tee times the rest of the week. Should be home before the heat really sets in. Not a lot of cars in the parking lot, yesterday, when we left the course! :>)
