Then you have the deer, that try to charge a toll to tee off.

Our biggest wildlife issue, lately, is geese. What filthy fowl!! A few years ago, we had Forestry, Fish and Game come trap some and take them to the lake north of town. Wasn't just a few days and they were back. They mate for life. They think our 14th hole belongs to them. Goose poop everywhere.
Our last course we belonged to were we used to live had a big problem with Geese. The superintendent got a border collie. Never had a issue again.

We were in the pro shop one day and someone was complaining about seeing a dog on the course. The head pro said "That is the best, most underpaid employee we have on the course. If you have a problem with him, you are welcome to go elsewhere and never come back"

Our biggest issue on our course is because 24 of the 27 holes are on an island in the Delaware Water Gap between PA and NJ. For 113 years they have put up a bridge to the Island in March/April, the take it down the week around Thanksgiving. Problem is, it can wash away with flooding. For the last 15 years, they have been talking about doing a permanent bridge well above flood plane.

They started the work early this year pushing and building the bridge, and 2 weeks ago, they brought in the crane to do the final leg. We all went out to watch. The second picture has the old Bridge in the foreground.

One of our last superintendents had a dog. "Callie"... actually "Callaway". Callie did a great job keeping the geese at bay. One day, the super and Callie were headed down #4 fairway. A flock of wild turkeys came out of the timber. Callie hopped off the Gator and took off after the turkeys. The turkeys were having none of the dog and attacked her. Callie headed back to the super and his Gator and never would chase any large bird... including geese... after.

That's to bad!!! I'll never forget the first time I saw the dog (Bogie) go after geese. We were getting ready to tee off and the dog went after about 5-10 geese. They meandered into the water and the dog leaped into the water growling and still after them, Geese decided maybe the pond wasn't as safe as they thought and took off.

I could never understand why pros do this. When you're cooking world-class Michelin Star meals, why change the recipe?

If I had to guess, Money. lol Maybe either Taylormade is wanting to sweeten his endorsement with them, or not sure how long his Titleist Endorsement runs. They may want to pay him more sooner to not test out Taylormade putters, with the Newport just a excuse/disguise.

Wanna know how difficult it is to win on tour?

Imagine finishing a season with 10 top-25s, 7 top-tens, earning $7.2 million, and qualifying in the top 30 for the Tour Championship, only to find out you have a 10-shot deficit to Scotty before anyone has even teed off.

The Senior Women's US Open was held here in Portland last weekend, so a friend of mine and I jumped in the car on Sunday and checked it out.

I've been to Amateur, Web/Korn, PGA, Senior PGA, LPGA, and now Senior LPGA tour events and this one BY FAR was the most chill. There were basically no ropes, the women were talking to us, the galleries were just walking down the fairways with the players (keep in mind this was Sunday at a USGA Major) it was really cool.

We followed the GOAT Annika Sorenstam for six holes. Every single approach shot, and I mean EVERY one of them, never left the flag. It was pretty incredible.

$30 at the gate, cheap food and drinks, and the best atmosphere you could imagine. It was awesome!
