I'm in need of a 3 wood that i can use strictly off the tee, somehting as close to a driver as possible as far and tragectory and set up but the distance of a 3 wood, i was considering the new driving irons from Titleist but i'm not sure if those will have the distance i'm looking for....(current 3 wood is Cobra ss HyperSteel offset)

Try to find a callaway great big bertha 3 wood. They are great off the tee. Just make sure you put a real shaft in it.

I think he's a 4 hdcp, and in college.
With his distance, he can use the 3 wood for more accuracy.
I have a Cleveland Launcher 3 wood stiff, and honestly, it is the best club in my bag. I hit it really straight and powerful, with enoush spin to stay long in the air. Sometimes I hit it longer than my driver, go figure

Although it is a bit expensive I just bought a Taylor Made R5 3 wood. Great distance and it is slightly larger than alot of the 3 woods out there. I went to Golfsmith and grabbed every brand of 3 wood they had off the rack and that was the one that felt best in the testing area. For me it was also the longest of the available choices.

I'm about a 3 Hcp and my reasoning is because those 3 strokes i seem to be having troublwe with are on the tight fairways where i would love to be hitting something within 150 (about 30-40 yards less than driver is what i'm looking for somehting around 255-260)

If you want distance and you're only going to use it off the tee you could consider a 2 wood.
