A Fool and his R7...

... are soon parted. Okay so I am a huge Cobra fan but I had a chance to pick up an R7 in 9.5 degree with and Alida NV 65-S for roughly half of retail from a guy I know. So I said what the hey and bought it. I took it to the range today and put it up against my Cobra 454 Comp. In my hands the Cobra is a little longer and more forgiving. The R7 on the other hand is easier to control and I can hit it off the deck easier. All in all I like both so I've decided that when I'm striking the ball well I'll use the Cobra. When I have a case of the "S" word, I'll use the R7.

The wife tried it and likes it as well so she may be switching from her Bang Golf Prototype to an R7.

Wow...you really do acquire a lot of equipment...

My friend who got the r7 really hits it straighter than his old driver. He does get a bit more distance but the big benefit for him is keeping it in the fairway...

No the guy who sold a basically new driver to me for half price was the fool.

The wife wants her own R7, she doesn't want my golf club hand me downs. Had to buy her an Odyssey 2 ball last week.

Better than let it sit in the garage or trade it into a shop for less than half of what it is worth.

Sure he probably could have gotten a bit more money on eBay, but someone people would rather not the hassel.

You got a good deal on it but doesn't necessarily mean he was a fool.

Well I guess he was a fool in a sense that he probably didn't demo the club to make sure that he would like it.

I suspect that was the problem. I guess he figured it out pretty quick as there are no skymarks on the head and only a little scratching on the sole from normal but very little use. I did rip off the Winn grip he had on it and put a Golf Pride cord grip on.

One other thing I've noticed about the R7 is that I can hit it off the deck fairly easy. The Cobra is 50/50 hitting off the deck. Sometimes it getts pretty windy here in Florida for no appearant reason so a nice, low, running shot is useful to have in the bag.

You're right I do actually, I have 6 complete sets of irons, multiple fairway woods, 10 drivers, too many putters, a few 1 and 2 irons and I even have my very first club a Wilson Sam Snead 8 iron. There are also some single clubs and the odds and ends I use to regrip and reshaft clubs. I need to get rid of some of this stuff. I actually have more Drum and Paintball equipment though. I took almost 4 years off of golf to play tournament paintball.
