...know Lyle Odelein? Played golf w/ him last week, going again this week to another course, dinner afterwards. Seems like a good guy.

Note to self: "Hockey is for sissies" is not a good phrase in this instance.

Yep. I know Lyle (or, know of him).

I met a guy a couple weeks ago that played in his golf tournament.

PS>...if Lyle orders for you at dinner, say you have to go to the bathroom and don't go back to the table..... :D

Ha!

Just did a search on Lyle.

1029 career games, 50 goals and 2200 penalty minutes.

And this is the "nice guy" you're going to dinner with? :D

Just kidding, P.

LOL. Yeah, I looked him up too since I don't know squat about hockey. I guess he's the guy they put in when a little "tough love" is called for, huh?

He was invited by one of our foursome last week. End of the round over beers he offered to treat us all to another round this week. Cool.

I guess he might as spend his 04-05 salary before the 05-06 ones kick in at less 24%..... :)

P 102, I know Lyle, pretty well. It's been awhile since we have talked. But if you do play with him again ask him if he Remembers a guy for Sir Winstons (a bar in Montreal) called Daryl, I used to be the manager there. Please tell him I said Hi. I could tell you a lot of crazy stories about him. Boy can that guy drink.

Besides that he is just an all round good guy. He never stuck his nose up at anyone. Never got a big head being a player in Montreal. I remeber one time we were sitting at the bar with a tin of dip. And this girl walked in and ask for some. He smiled and said ok. She places the dip in her mouth and I offered her a bottle of water to drink and the use for the spit. She politely said "no thank you, I just swallow ". Lyle and I broke out into laughter. She understood what she had said a bit to late to take it back. I had tears in my eyes I laughed so hard. I was sorry to see him leave Montreal.
Anyways please say hi on my behalf, and tell him I hope his family is well also.

Golfers are much better fighters then hockey players. Next time he's teeing off - check him. I'm sure you could take him! :D

Chewin' ta-back-ee

tin: The round container it comes in (tin lid).
dip: What you pinch out of the tin and put between your teeth and gum.
