First of all, is there anyone currently using Arccos? If so thoughts??

I think the system and stat tracking is fantastic, the way they display the information is also incredible. Being able to compare your performance against players of similar handicap is cool as hell. I have come across one small issue and its more a personal thing. Once you purchase the sensors and optional belt clip sensor, to avoid carrying your phone in your pocket. There’s also a $155USD annual membership fee, billed monthly.

Now as it was not so nicely stated to me on Twitter, I do not expect a company to GIVE AWAY their services. I don’t just expect things to be free. But I was burnt by these $USD$ membership fees once before with SkyCaddie and I tried to learn from it, vowing to never let myself get screwed again, messing around with the exchange rate!!

I’m using the Taylormade+ phone app and like you said, a major upside would be to not have to use my phone all the time during my round, but I do remember my yardages pretty often so I can sometimes clear them 2 or 3 holes at a time if I miss a few.
I agree though the stat insights are awesome and they help teen force what I know, but I think give me just enough more that I have a better idea what I need to practice and fix.

With Arccos there are varying depths to the rabbit hole so to speak. It just depends on how far you want to go down it. One of the more basic packages is just the sensors for your clubs, but does require your cellphone and most reviews say it must be in your pocket during your round to function properly... they sell an optional belt clip which allows you to not have your phone in your pocket, BUT you still need it to access the GPS and Caddie features of the system...

And again, I’m not trying to bash the Arccos system. I do think its very cool and the statistics it tracks for you along with the way they present it. All amazing!!

I do however accomplish something similar in the statistics category; that may or may not go as in depth, is not presented nearly as nicely. But it works very well for me and saves me $155USD a year. Canadians will know that’s a big deal!

Yeah I went back to just playing with my lazer and playing how I used to, shoot the flag, shoot the front, or a bunker etc.

I play for whichever full shot gets me to the middle of the green, or if no options are there, then I will try and just cover the front edge, or front hazard. So like if my 7i is 160, 8 is 150, flag is 155 but near the front, I’ll hit 7, but if it’s 155 in the middle, I’ll hit the 8 as long as it covers the front edge.

it has just been helping me simplify my game and hit more greens, and just giving myself more chances with the putter.

I play with a Garmin Approach G6, between that and my PRGR launch monitor. I’ve managed to build a reasonably functional golf game. Considering my small kids and zero time to play...

I’ve only had the PRGR a couple months, but have already been able to learn rough carry distances for the majority of my clubs; D, 5w, 7-9. Putting some extra work into the Pelz wedge game. I was fairly confident with these numbers to begin with, but confirming them is entirely different.

My Garmin operates just as any other GPS and being the size of an old school pager, you can forget its even on your belt. I usually keep it clipped to my push cart. It does allow you to track stats throughout the round as well; FIR (along with misses L-R), GIR, Putts, Sand Saves and Penalty strokes. I can’t remember exactly how many rounds I have saved, but can tell you:
I hit 53% of fairways, missing Left 34% & Right 23% (not sure how they figure that??)
23% GIR
1.64 putts per green
22% sand save conversion rate
1.5 penalties per round
🤷‍♂️

Thanks lol still not as high as I’d like it to be. Especially for how bad my scrambling is. But I’ve been seeing a coach and working on some swing changes, and I think I’m on the verge of some really great stuff.

“If you want to have great sex, date a porn star!” - C. Sheen. Sometimes going to a pro is the best thing you can do!! 🤣

All jokes aside, gathering all these stats and info is great, but what you do with it that, is what really determines the success you see. I love playing the game, but studying my own and working on it has almost become more fun!!
