Guess those 80 compression balls weren't too popular...

Tee boxes being moved back on 6 of the 18 holes. Total increase in course length = 155 yards.

Par-3 4th being increased by 30-35 yards, par-4 7th being increased by 35-40 yards.

Let's wait and see what difference it all makes.

Still only a drive mid iron for these guys. It would be a cert birdie if a par 5 so it should be a easy 4.

But it is all mental do you not fnacie your chances of birding a 500 yard par 5 I would more than I wouldn't.

You got a point there. 505 - 320 (drive) = 185 which nowdays is like a 6 or 7 iron for big hitters.

insted of makin it longer so the longer players will have more of an advatage they should make it closer to us open setup.

the rough dosent have to be as long or the greens as hard just a little more like it.they always talk about tiger proofing these courses.but making themlonger doesnt hurt tiger it just helps him because he is one of the longer hitters.

by lengthening it it just takes away from the shot makers.

Yeah, Fred Funk and Justin Leonard need not apply to Masters. Yet, I'd almost rather watch their game than the long hitters hitting it in the rough all the time it seems some tourneys.:D

Welcome aboard here and great first post..I am a bit surprised they are lengthening it again so quickly.

My guess is the length of any given hole may vary quite a bit from day to day though...one of the great things about the Master's is how they actually "loosen it up" on Sunday to allow aggressive/offensive tactics...they have been doing this quite a bit with more receptive hole locations on certain holes and I'll bet they will use these newer longer tee placements early in the tournament and shorten it up a bit on Sunday....

They won't "US Openize" it. The founders of Augusta national didn't really believe in "rough." That's why they call it the "first cut."....

Tigerproofing = narrowing fairways, longer rough

It seems as though Hootie and the boys are wanting Tiger to catch Jack. By lengthing the course there will be no Mike Weir, Mark O'Meara, or any other "average" length player win again.
