Backyard Green Building....

i'm awaiting the decision from my dad about letting me build a putting green in the backyard as my summer project. does anyone have any experience with doing this or that would recommend a site or something, i was pretty much gonna go with artificial turf because i've heard that real grass ones are a pain in the ass to maintain.

yeah, i've been thinking about making one myself, but i'm not quite sure how to get started.. do you need special grass for it? or anything like that

I saw this site with detailed pictures showing how he did one. Lots of work, but very interesting.
