Well, we had some bads news today. Seems the gate at my Dad's place was left unlatched accidently and the Golden's went for a run through the neighbourhood. Both of them being very friendly and outgoing, they loved being with one and other.

Bazil got hit by a car and was killed instantly.

The Family is pretty shook up as Baz was one of "Us". The best tempered dog you'd ever find. One in a million...

Take care buddy, wherever you are....we'll all miss you....

Jeez...very sad to read this, Rock. It was only when we got our first dog, a springer spaniel, that I really appreciated how attached you get to them.

Best wishes to you and yours...take care...

Very sad news...

My lab is seven now and despite the fact she is in good shape for her age...just today I thought about her golden years.

She has been such a good dog.

I am sorry for your loss and am glad she did not suffer...

Truly Man's Best Friend. Always happy to see you.

Strange that Kilted, we had a springer spaniel for our 1st dog too. She came everywhere with us, holidays the whole lot. The 1 and only time I ever seen my father "emotional" was the day he brought her down to the vets and he came home with just the lead, she had some liver disease that was only gonna get worse, so he had to take an on the spot humane decision.

As Rock sez they're more than a dog they are your family .. soppy gits aren't we ?

I feel for you Rock.. I lost a dog late last year and it is not LIKE losing a member of the family. It IS losing a member.

Good mojo going your way from here.

Thanks guys. It was a tough night for the family, to say the least.

We have a new Beagle pup at home, and it's a tough adjustment going from one house to the other....."this totally sucks" to" hey buddy!".

But I guess today is the first day after. It will get better from here on in. I didn't actually live with the dog (not that it makes it easier) but when you get up with him, feed him, scold him and he sees you in your underwear, it's different....

He was a good pup.

Anyone want some offspring of Baz? Two females available... :p

Sorry Rock, losing a longtime pet like this just sucks.

It doesn't make much difference not living with them. When my dad's wolfhound died my mom couldn't even call me to tell me. She ended up writing me a letter.

That day at work I guess it was obvious I was bummed and one of my co-workers walks over and says, "man, what's wrong with you did your dog die". It was the only smile I had that day. The guy seemed really embarassed when I said yes, he did.

Give everyone my best and let them know there's a golden lover in Texas sharing their pain. Oh yeah, thanks for the warning.

No worries Dave.

As I mentioned, there's two pups at home still carrying on the legacy. Hopefully, with any luck, either of those two will end up being half the dog Baz was.
