Are HX blues and HX tours basically the same or do they really make a difference to your game?
The Tours and Blues are NOT the same ball. The Tours truely are in a class by themselves. They're used my low handicappers, as they offer long tee balls and great spin and control.
However, for my tastes, you can't beat the price of the HX Blues considering the slight difference in distance that you might get with the Tours. I found myself maybe 10 yards longer with the driver, but the same with all my other clubs, and my distance control and spin were as good if not better. And 60 bucks a dozen versus 35 makes good financial sense too.
I honestly say that you should give them a shot. I get a tough time here because it's my biggest recommend on this site it seems (well, lets face it, it is!), but I can single handedly say that the Blue has been the biggest improvement in my game. When I heard nasty rumours that they were to be discontinued (thanks Dave!), I almost wept. I went and bought the "last two" boxes, only to find that they were just due for a log redesign. Buggers!...lol.
I'll tell you what. If you go and try a set of HX blues and don't like them,
I'll buy a sleeve of whatever balls you want and mail them to you. I feel that strongly about them. And you can't beat a deal like that.
But, you have to give them a chance. One round of golf won't cut it. Take them out on a minimum of 6 rounds and learn them inside and out.
Trust me, you'll be cutting strokes off your game in no time with long, straight tee balls and irons that stick to the greens like darts.
