Blades, the Final Frontier?

I dunno ladies, the Blade argument just isn't working on me. I love them to look at, but as for game enhancement, i'm not sold yet.

Here's a chart for comparison's sake. It's not helping me much either.

How the hell do you measure "forgiveness"?

I think it's along the same lines as "sweet spot size". The clubface with a larger sweet spot would be more forgiving for mis-hits versus one with a smaller one.

Are you with me?

ah, good point grazo, rock i was referrring to the ta1's those are the only blades i've tried and the only ones i'll hit for a very long time

As I had pointed out in another thread which you may not have seen, I hit an MP-336 iron today in an indoor range and had minimal success. I bet i hit less than 60% on the sweet spot, or what it felt like on the sweet spot. But that's the crappy part of indoor nets, you really don't know what's going on.

I'll give them another chance forsure, but i'd like to hit a full set with shafts to fit my game before making my 100% yay or nay decision.

That's interesting Rock.

It appears that you have become too accustomed to your X-16s which are huge compared to most blades. It am still amazed that you felt like you only nailed the sweetspot 60% of the time though.

What about the feeling when you did hit it dead-center? Much different to the callys?

If the 16s work for you. Play them, my friend. They didn't work for me, or they did I guess, too well as the other thread explains. I have a feeling though that if you got a set of clubs that weren't quite as forgiving for about 3 days, you'd see a marked improvement in your contact. I put my x16-"similars" up and just played my TA 845s and my swing cleaned up amazingly quickly. Then, when I hit the mp14s, it was luscious love, baby-- luscious love. The set I have now has chrome worn off of the low iron faces, a few dings, various worn spots, "character", but nothing has ever looked so beautiful to me in the bag.

I played with them yesterday again, 9 holes. I was getting at least a club longer on all irons-- even than the XP Pro graphites that I built for the express purpose of gaining distance. I was able to work trajectory much easier. Able to work them easier.

I have a new delima now. These things have cleaned my swing up so efficiently, especially in the release, that my 4* closed Loco Pro driver, and my Loco Pro closed 3 wood are no longer a viable option. I am heartbroken, but I can't leave the new hook-machines in my bag. I had to put an old Bertha clone, neutral face, in the bag.

So, to reiterate, and in the wrong thread no less-- For Sale: 1 set of very slightly used X16 pro clones, graphite and in great condition. Cheap! 1 set of Tommy Armour 845ss, steel stiff great condition. Cheap! 1 Dunlop Loco Pro driver, very slightly used. Cheap! One Loco Pro 3 wood also very slightly used: Cheap!

I agree that i obviously didn't spend much time, and when you swing in a cage, it isn't real golf. They also use Top Flite balls in the cage which i find notoriously hard. It feels like a rock off the face.

But, when i hit some pure, it sure felt nice. The control was there too. If i wanted to hit a fade i could, or draw one at will almost. But i just wished i could get the feel a little more. Maybe I'll take that iron out to the range, give it the real deal feel.

I'll let you guys know how it goes.

As for my X-16's, i really like them. They work for me, and that's pretty much what counts. I think i have the skills to play blades, but it would be quite the expense to find out that they're not my cup of tea. I'm not looking for "game improvement forged clubs", i'd be looking for "game enhancement forged blades. There's a big difference.

Hmm. Still riding the fence here. Again, i'll give that MP-33 another go.
